The people who would get anything out of this book tend to be the same people who don't have the attention span for it.
It's good if you never want to get into the subject matter except this brief overview but if you want to get deeper you should really start with intro textbooks on logic and neural cognition.

Largely I'd agree. I think Le Ton Beau de Marot is a better book and I Am A Strange Loop is more carefully and thoroughly argued book. Marot is one of the best books on translation I've ever read but his stuff on logic/consciousness/whatever really best serves as something to get the wheels turning before you move on to greater things. GEB got me into philosophy as a teenager and I can't resent that, even if when I read it now it's a little too shallow and cutesy for my tastes.
