no. I'm a novice go player and I enjoyed the book. there are better places to start for Kawabata though. still, it's the only book close to chess that I can recall atm.

Almost everything written about Bobby Fischer is interesting. Endgame: Bobby Fischer's Remarkable Rise and Fall is great.
My System by Aron Nimzowitsch is still one of the best chess hyper-modern theory books even though it was written in 1925, but all that just means is its excruciatingly boring and not worth the effort.
You will gain more practical knowledge by using the training section on lichess.org and watching Saint Louis Chess Club videos on YT than you would reading any amount of books.
Chess books are obsolete now until someone discovers something revolutionary, and even then they will probably just make a video.
