it's a matter of practice and mindset. i have a notes file where i think via typing. none of it needs to make it into the rough draft, some of it is outline or ideas. if i do strike on something decent like dialogue or whatever, i'll put a star at the beginning of the line to make sure i bring it to the rough draft.
