I just stop reading at chapter breaks.
I wander around my house while reading so it's quicker to just remember where I left off and flip to that page than to look for a bookmark I've wandered away from hours ago.

I just remember the page number. If I drank too much to remember, I just wind up re-reading some stuff. That is probably a good thing anyway since I was too drunk to fully comprehend what I read if I couldn't manage to remember several digits for a short period of time after.

Side with 'R'ed lines indicates that I stopped on the 'R'ight side.
Plus I can write page numbers and a few quotes on it. Usually leave it in the book after finishing so I can quickly find the pages I liked.

Right now Arc Lightning mtg card. For Portrait of a Young Man I used Elemental Uprising. So basically shitty cards that have nice artwork. I also used to use good cards until I realized they are valuable and lost Basandra, Battle Angel.

Currently using my MRI test results from the hospital. I'm not sure why, it's just what I picked up one time and I've used it ever since.

I find fortune cookie fortunes to be perfect. They're stiffer and more durable than a slip of notebook paper, are already cut to a nice size and can be repeatedly and easily bent if need be unlike card stock.
Small 3x3" washi (origami) paper folded in half is nice as well.
I use this pamphlet I found at a doctor's office.

Because of a fellow /lit/izens recommendation, I use a paperclip. I keep chewing on my bookmarks so paper ones disappear like snow on a hot summer babe.
Make sure to stretch it (the paperclip) a little bit before using it though; otherwise it's going to leave an imprint in the book.

I found this guy in a used book I bought. The front says Christian F. Moller which is a family-run book store. 'Kongelig hofleverandor' basically is a royal warrant of appointment, so the bookmark is essentially advertising royal patronage.
I've been using this bookmark since I was 16, so I think it's pretty cool. There are a bunch of addresses on the back of different bookstores around the country, maybe I'll go through the list some day and visit the stores.
I use a second, smaller book.
