White privilege and male privilege are mostly just a meme that only applies to people who are raised and stay well above the poverty line. As Mira ran through the files of ideas stored alphabetically in her failing long term memory, a gargantuan yet wholly imperceptible fact was looming [7]. That Mira knew she was in trouble when she went straight from L to X was no doubt, but this was different. Mira was beginning to suspect that her authorial credibility was being slowly but surely being undermined by her own hand! The cat was coming out of the bag [8].

I think the main problem I have with people who are dependent on weed, or on video games, or on listening to music everywhere they go, or on watching netflix, is that they have a weak imagination. anyone can get high and enjoy themselves, or enjoy binge-watching a TV show, etc. but you can improve your mind so much by just being bored and having nothing to do. some of the best moments of my life have been spent doing nothing, usually because I'm waiting for someone, and just letting my thoughts roam over everything around me until I come upon some interesting thought which leads to more thought, or brings out a new meaning in a passage I'd read long ago, etc. there is a kind of creativity inside of you which emerges the more desperate your boredom becomes. see what kind of poetry you can come up with when you've spent three hours waiting in the cold for a ride home—it might be better than you think.
but when you are develop a habit of falling back on some indulgence like food or drugs or "entertainment" for your joy, you lose your ability to create joy, and you become dull.
