Does /lit/ have any prolific writers who post? I'd like to hear from the ones who are actively turning out a lot of work.
>>
>>7687750
Surprisingly, no. All the writers on here are trying to create the next masterwork of literature. You'd think some pissbottle prolific selfpublishing wizard space opera series writers would exist but nope
>>
churning out work is probably not consistent with being on 4chan
>>
>>7687750
I write futanari erotica in amazon.
>>
>>7687782
Isn't there this one autistic gas station attendant here who wrote a series of 10 unpublished fantasy books that are like 1000 pages a piece?
>>
i write my diary desu
>>
>>7687793
no autism. just hard work.
and its 11 books across 4400 pages. going to market in less than 60 days with a new book being released every six months for the next five years. talk shit all you like, i picked a direction, made a plan and created something. don't like it? don't read it. if i start writing MLP fanfics or Hunger Games knockoffs then sure, shoot me square in the face.

lmao
>>
>>7687750
nope, /lit/ is filled with chronical procrastinators who are trying to write a 1000-page postmodern Ulysses, and everyone's ETA is about 150 years past their expected lifespan
>>
>>7688008
I'll play ball, you got a website or something?
>>
>>7688008
same as this>>7688136
>>
>>7688008
I didn't know you actually found a publisher for them. If so, then congrats.

Though they're probably still shit.
>>
>>7688154

This is true. And what makes it funnier is postmodernism sucks and was a mistake.
>>
>>7688008
I wrote a book myself but when it got rejected about 20 times I packed it in for a while and focused on shorter things. It wasn't fantasy/scifi or anything mainstream so it was a longshot from the start.

I have no idea how you can convince yourself to write an entire 11 book series before anyone even expresses any interest.
>>
>>7688385

He didn't say he found a publisher...
>>
>>7688154
This sounds like a retarded meme. Sure I like the meme trilogy and postmodernism in general, but I'd never try to write a 1000 page book as a debut. Though I'm saying this as probably one of the only people here who's actually finished a full-length manuscript (even if it wasn't published).
>>
>>7688390
"Going to market" just seems like a really weird way to phrase it if you're self-publishing. And the one every six months thing seems like an awfully specific schedule, one that I'm not sure he'd be smart enough to come up with on his own.
>>
>>7688393

That's because anyone walking into a publisher or agent with a 1000 page debut would get, and deserves to get, laughed at.
>>
>>7688398
he's definitely self publishing. a 1000 page book as a debut?
see>>7688402
>>
>>7688398

He's either self or vanity publishing. No doubt about it. Sure, it's great that he wrote an 11 volume, 4400 page series. It's great that he wrote something.

But the only people publishing that as a debut are himself or a vanity press. Which is fine. I don't care.
>>
>>7687795

Same. It's more philosophical musings at the end of my day right before I fall asleep, though.
>>
>>7688398
intentionally vague + timeframe that's been discussed here as a successful way to collect an audience releasing on amazon

sorry about the shitty syntax. drunk as hell, hope i make sense.
>>
>>7688402
Even beyond that, I actually think anything over 100 thousand words is kind of clunky. My favorite author is John Hawkes and as far as I can tell he never wrote anything over 300 pages.
>>
>>7688410
>>7688412
This is true, but stranger things have happened. You're probably right but there's an off chance that he lucked into a deal. As much of a joke as this dude is, I'd actually be happy to see him succeed because it would mean there's hope for the rest of us.
>>7688426
That is plausible, I suppose. He definitely didn't come up with that schedule on his own, but I could see him cribbing it from someone here.
>>
>>7688430

I agree, but I have different views than most of /lit/.

For example, Hamlet was Shakespeare's longest - 30,557 words. I know it's not the same genre as the novel, but it's part of a larger point.
>>
>>7688430
>actually think anything over 100 thousand words is kind of clunky

I agree

meanwhile my fav book of all time is war and peace
>>
>>7688448

War & Reese's is less of a novel and more of a historical fiction. Like a journaled encyclopedia of a time period. It's the same...but different...but still same...know what I mean?
>>
>>7688439
i'm not even here that much and i've seen multiple times that a serial fantasy with concrete updates is the way to go on amazon to build an audience. anyone who's faggot enough to trip has DEFINITELY spent enough time here to see that same conversation more times than me.

lpus notice that asshole stops responding once people start probing for specifics: >>7688136 >>7688293 >>7688369

I know

tolstoy said something along the lines of "the best russian works of literature aren't novels, they are what they are"
>>
>>7688465
He doesn't want to be dox'd
>>
>>7688467

Yeah. Tolstoy said what I meant better than stoned me. Go figure!
>>
>>7688482
or, y'know, he's a liar.
>>
If you see a series of four long-ass fantasy books pop up over the next two years on Amazon you'll probably know it's him. I don't think most self-published authors write their crap fast enough to put it out that quickly.

>I don't think most self-published authors write their crap fast enough to put it out that quickly

>and its 11 books across 4400 pages

dude's already got it written. he's just cleverly pacing its release.
>>
>>7688549
I meant it'd be easy to notice that it's him and not someone else because of the pacing.
>>
>>7688465

Isn't that what Hugh Howey did/does?

The highly rated porn on literotica is all serial too

i fucking hate that shit. rating should be fr the whole series, not fucking part 13 just cause you've loved jerking off to the first 12.

I went to bed early. The new job away from the fuel shed requires a lot of driving but at least there's commas in my paychecks again.

>getting doxxed
That's the other thing. Validiting my claim with the name of the title of the first book and series would invalidate my anonymity. That's point of the site isn't it? I don't think anyone wants to be spammed in a thread for self promotion. when it's up and running I'll drop a few vague hints in a thread and if anons figure it out then great.
Here's the first cover with the name and title cropped out

The idea to use vector "abstracts" for the branding one was both a cost and design aesthetic issue.
>cost
Illustrators want hundreds of dollars per piece
>design aesthetic
I don't want depictions of the characters on the covers. The reader should decide in their head what they look like. I personally would never pay money for a copy of lord of the rings with a pic of Elijah woods face on it.
>continuity
If you buy the first few and people talk about the next cover..."It'll probably have some kind of colorful tech design" that establishes branding and adds familiarity. Plus, when you put them all together a running theme.

It's all a learning process. There's no manual about how to go about all of it. I mean, there is, but those books are people who make their money trying to steer real authors from the self help section. Mistakes will be made and not made again when the second series comes out. Maybe then I'll have the funds to create every aspect to the liking of a stranger on a Burmese pet trading image board.
