Rousseau's Confessions. I must say I really am enjoying it.

Jon Krakauer's Into the Wild. Always been a fan of winter/wilderness novels, and it's nice to read one that's non-fiction for a change.

Hey OP, I just finished this last week. What do you think of it so far? I know Murakami has the reputation of being a one-trick pony, but I felt like Tsukuru was pretty unique compared to his other work. Admittedly, I didn't think it was the most compelling (which may support the one-trick pony idea, considering how Murakami has something that he does well so he repeats forever, this being a case where he didn't). I did love the ambiguity of the novel though, with my only real complaint being that some of the most interesting characters and moments don't get enough of a spotlight as I would like (Haida).
Overall though, good read. Excellent cover as well (I think I prefer the older Vintage covers, though).

Will S. Burroughs' Junkie. I am not unconditionally enjoying it. The man writes well, it's just the subject matter makes my fucking stomach turn. His descriptions of the horrible things these junkies did is more terrible than anything I've ever read, seen or heard off. Really makes you both hate them for doing it to themselves while pitying their horrible existence.
