Who here has read William Maxwell? Specifically So Long, See You Tomorrow. So far it's my favorite novel, and I feel like he's severely underrated. I've never seen him mentioned on this board before, so I'd like to know /lit/'s opinion on him. He is really famous by any means.

That's pretty much his entire bibliography, I think. Noice, m8. I just ordered They Came Like Swallows, so I'm super stoked.

So Long, See You Tomorrow has been on my to read list for a long time. I'll pick it up next time I'm at the library.

Fair warning, it's a little oddly structured. It doesn't focus on its central point for most of the book, but it's less than two hundred pages, so it's not too bad of a thing

are you strayan? i am
the only person i've ever met irl who'd heard of him was the guy i bought some of his books off kek. maxwell was editor of the new yorker for 40 years so he's probably better known in america.

time will.. and they came like swallows are my favourites.

Nah, Amerilard here. But he's isn't very known even here. I guess authors are kinda like musicians, some just don't really go beyond the time they're in. I'm sure during his seat at the New Yorker he definitely had a reputation in the literary world, though.
