I know you guys are mostly about the serious stuff here, but let's hear about thrillers.
What is the thriller writer you admire the most?
Which thriller novel is your favourite?

not thrillers per se (though they are certainly thrilling) the works of elmore leonard never fail to entertain.
First few novels by Clancy before he turned to shit.
Le Carre
Maybe a few others.
Haven't heard one good thing bout Koontz, Patterson, Grisham, Connely and their ilk
I love a good thriller. I came to the genre through my love of Ian Fleming and James Bond novels. So after Ian died Kingsley Amis wrote one Bond novel and it turned me into a fan of his. In fact I love all the Bond authors, Gardner, Benson, Higson, Faulks, Boyd, Wood, Horowitz and Deaver. Jeffrey Deaver I love outside his single Bond novel, check out Garden Of Beasts.
Also, Ludlum, Clancy, Lecarre, Dale Brown (Act Of War and Edge of Battle are the closest we will ever get to an Iron Man/War Machine/Air force/south american drug lords novel).
