Hey /lit/
I wanna make the cross over to e-readers.
What do you use? And what would you recommend for a budget of about 80-100 EUR
Kindle Paperwhite
Calibre for collecting, managing, converting pirated ebooks
Goodreads for bad reviews
/lit/ for shitposting

nigga the paperwhite is 130 EUR
Is it really worth it?
Can i transfer any pirated pdf to it?

The Paperwhite gets nothing but praise.
But it's an e-book, and like all e-books, it's fucking shit. Physical books are the only proper way of reading.

yeah but you don't understand.
The reasons why i want to cross over to e-books:
>Cannot afford the books i want to read.
>Live in spain but i only read books in english and it's difficult to find english books (hate ordering them online)

There's a trick to converting pdf well. Use k2pdfopt first, and then convert in calibre to something else like epub or mobi.

Cheers, I'll try that.

IMHO it depends on the structure of the pdf whether conversion works fine or not - pdfs with many "irregular" elements like textboxes, figures in text, two columns of text per page etc. don't convert well because the converter doesn't know what to do with them. PDFs that are text-only convert well.

Looking at it, that's what k2pdfopt is for. Haven't tried yet though.
Some of my academic pdfs aren't even OCRd, so that's obviously not going to happen.
