"I am Ra[...]The Confederation of Planets in the Service of the Infinite Creator has only one important statement. That statement, my friends, as you know, is 'All things, all of life, all of the creation is part of one original thought.'[...]

We are those who are of [The Law of One]. In our vibration the polarities are harmonized, the complexities are simplified, and the paradoxes have their solution. We are one. That is our nature and our purpose[...]

That which is infinite cannot be many, for many-ness is a finite concept. To have infinity you must identify or define that infinity as unity; otherwise, the term does not have any referent or meaning. In an Infinite Creator there is only unity. You have seen simple examples of unity. You have seen the prism which shows all colors stemming from the sunlight. This is a simplistic example of unity.

In truth there is no right or wrong. There is no polarity for all will be, as you would say, reconciled at some point in your dance through the mind/body/spirit complex which you amuse yourself by distorting in various ways at this time. This distortion is not in any case necessary. It is chosen by each of you as an alternative to understanding the complete unity of thought which binds all things. You are not speaking of similar or somewhat like entities or things. You are every thing, every being, every emotion, every event, every situation. You are unity. You are infinity. You are love/light, light/love. You are. This is [The Law of One...]

The Law of One, though beyond the limitations of name, as you call vibratory sound complexes, may be approximated by stating that all things are one, that there is no polarity, no right or wrong, no disharmony, but only identity. All is one, and that one is love/light, light/love, the Infinite Creator[...]

The Law of One states simply that all things are one, that all beings are one[...]When your peoples grasp infinity, then and only then, can the gateway be opened to [The Law of One...]

There are no mistakes under [The Law of One...][The Law of One being universal], there are infinite forms, infinite understandings, but the progression is one[...]"

Infinite jest is a little too cute for me in some parts and a lot of it feels overwrought. Then you get passages like the girl explaining why no one can understand depression unless they've lived through it and that really hits me. I kind of feel like DFW is a better short story author than a novelist.

I was embarrassed until like second year of college but I realized that no one really cares and that relationships are a huge time and money suck. Plus, everyone assumes you aren't a virgin automatically and it isn't really that hard to hide if you're actually self conscious about it.

>>
>>7577137
I intended to give breadth, considering a list that short is difficult to give much of an idea.
I don't work too hard to have obscure taste in music anyway, because that is what it takes to have taste that'll keep faggots like you happy. "You don't exclusively listen to field recordings and musique concrete, you're a fag" etc.
If you want to talk composers though, I'm on a big Messiaen kick right now, then I'm always a big fan of Bartok, then Stravinsky is always neat. (inb4 Rites of Spring.) If I'm feeling less contemporary JS Bach is always good.
>dart board
I didn't realize I needed a coherent theme in films I enjoy. Sorry, senpai
Noe is good always, but I like the experimentation with frame rate in Enter the Void, and also the use of the miniature city was great. But it must be bad because it's popular, amirite?

I don't agree with that assessment. I just didn't want to load my film thing with Antonioni, Friedkin and Coppola.

I have delved pretty deep into stuff. Been going through Josef von Sternberg, Michael Cimino, Andrej Wajda, Shohei Imamura, Kiju Yoshida but the movies I posted in there are largely the movies I come back to. I really like the balance that new hollywood struck between commercialism and art. I really like most things that confound the audience's expectations.

Different poster here:
It was never great or actually good, but it was much better than it has been in the past couple years. Outside of the now exiled philosophy threads, you could find people thoughtfully discussing literature amidst the shitposting. Now that seems to be dead. Also, those were the days when the wiki canon was developing, so a lot more of it was being discussed than just the books in 2015's top 100. The board was also much much slower then, so I assume that means less people, which you can take that as you wish.
Don't get me wrong, the meme trilogy still reigned supreme, and the translation shitposting etc. was still in. It just wasn't the ONLY thing.

Nice try, I have been coming here since 2007. If anything things have gotten better because the average poster is no longer in high school.

Nice post, very interesting point you make there, anon.

That part is true.
I haven't seen a decent thread in ages.

We've been discussing literature on /b/ since the beginning, the discussions started on /lit/ many years later.
Same thing that happened to /soc/. /b/ was the place for that kind of threads, until they made a board exclusively for that purpose.

Interestingly enough, most of the literary discussions on /b/ were actually decent, like most of /soc/-like threads that occurred before the /soc/ board was created.
It seems that every topic becomes crap once it gets a board for itself.

>Kaiji
That's a good show, but the second season was not-so-good. The pachinko game was too fucking long and Kaiji move to win hard to believe, the card game in season one was better planned.

The manga Liar Game follows a similar style, check it up (there is no anime for this one).

Good shit. Definitely one of my favourite mangos. Didn't they make live action movies of it?

No, but they made two live action series of it. None of them were very long, the japanese adaptation (2007) has 11 episodes and the south korean (2014) has 12 episodes.
I haven't watched any, but I may check it out now that I have been reminded of them.

I just look it up on wikipedia.
After the live action adaptation in 2007 they made a second season in 2009, the latter of 12 episodes. Then a live action film in 2010, it starts where the series ended.

It's weird that no studio has picked up this story to make an anime.

Anime is cancer.
I went to Japan six months ago with my gf and visited Akihabara for the hell of it (and to buy her brother a birthday present), and the place was absolutely crawling with weeaboos. I almost threw up.

Following the lit meme?
Following your unimpressive line of thoughts, we could say that literature is cancer, because I went to starbucks and the place was filled with hipsters discussing their pseudo interpretations of Joyce and talking shit of everything else. Absolutely disgusting, and basically lit.

Its main audience may be repulsive, but there has been many great productions in the last years, some of them not popular enough to be bring back enough money to the studios and leading to their bankruptcy. Still, many directors keep making quality work, I think there is a lot of stuff worthwhile to see.
