Yep its good. The first one is interesting because each character is supposed to represent a sub genre of science fiction. Great example of a cool concept executed very well.
A refreshingly literate space opera tale. Somehow managed to tastefully blend classic and Renaissance models & influences with aliens, cyborgs and lasers, which is a hell of a lot more than I can say for most science fiction.
Do I get just Hyperion or is it worth getting the Omnibus?

I'd agree. Though, not sure I'd say it's worth it.
Last couple of characters are really boring and stupid, and the ending is basically, "Stay tuned next week, space cadets, when our adventure continues!!!"
Haven't had any desire to pick up the second book and see how it ends, from what I heard it's not that great.

well if you got bored by the end of book 1, then I definitely cant recommend the 3rd and 4th for you.
