I've decided to try and read at least 20 books this year, which is a big increase since the last year of 5 books.
I have like a list of 25 novels and then about 10 philosophy books. Mixed in are some poetry and short stories. It all might be overly ambitious though.

I have a shitty tendency of starting books and never finishing them. If I dedicate myself to ten pages a day, do you reckon I could force on a habit of reading everyday?

I tried to read 115 books 2015 but failed at 108, it took up the majority of my time and got unpleasant, too much forced reading. This year it'll be 80.

Tried 150 this year. Only got to 90 something. Got to 120 something year before with some photography books padding it. Will try 150 again.
Though I'm probably going to be working full-time (if I can ever find a job ; ;) so I doubt I'll get there.

20 books, most of my spare time will be occupied with exosome research. Planning to focus on Dostojevskij, philisophy in general, medieval literature and ancient greece/rome.

I really want to read more and there was a stretch of a few months early in the year where I hardly read anything, so in 2016 I am going to aim for 60 books.
Last year did 70/52 this year will just aim for 52 again but read a doorstopper a month
I read 40 in 2015. I will read probably about the same this year, maybe 50.
Reached thirty one books last year so I'm setting that as my baseline and see if I can go over forty. I tend to read mostly during my work commute but I've decided that I'm also going to push myself to read more at home, especially if the book is 400+ pages long, just so that I don't end up stuck with it for a month or two.
I'm planning on getting through Homer's Odyssey as my holiday reading this year. Last year it was Milton's Paradise Lost & Regained. I find that reading epic poetry is easier when I put a strict time goal on myself.

I hit 200 last year, going for 250 this year. I'm more interested in completing all of the work of some authors (Primo Levi, John Hawkes, Samuel Beckett, and maybe Joseph McElroy if I can grab a copy of Women and Men)

39. It's a 50% increase over the 26 I read last year, and I don't actually count most of the books I read last year because they were either graphic novels or coffee table books.
Now that I'm sober I think I'll actually be able to read a book proper.
I was going to do 6, then I changed it to 4, but now I'm thinking 3. I'd like to read a couple classics like Little Women, Pride and Prejudice, and Black Beauty.

I've been getting through between 40-60 the last few years, depending on how busy my life is. Because I get to listen to a lot of stuff at work it will probably be more like 100ish books this year. I'm very excited about reading Don Quixote, Infinite Jest, Portrait of the artist as a young man, Ernest Shackleton's South (pairing this up with silent film documentaries like Epic of Everest, South and The Great white Silence), The Divine Comedy and Moby Dick.
I think this year will be pretty good. I'm starting it off with Lolita.

haha, you would get jailed for something like this in Germany, but I have been entertaining the thought to write a book called something like "Bigot" with an antisocial fat welfare guy who walks around spouting /pol/ stuff to everyone he meets, it would be really harsh in terms of racism and if I go all out I would have a Fatwa against me, but maybe I can pull it off.
I plan for an average of 1 book per week. But I haven't made a list yet.
My real objective for this year is to leave behind manchild books and start reading good literature. Last year I did some progress on that and I hope to continue.
From top to bottom in pic related is my current reading list. I do not plan ahead of that in case something new catches my interest.

My experience with Donna Tartt is identical to what you said in your last line.
I was recommended The Secret History by a bookshop worker in London who saw some books that I was buying.

Currently reading Shakespeare, as I got his collected works this Christmas. I've been enjoying it thoroughly. Finished Macbeth earlier today. So far I've read Hamlet, Othello, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Julius Caesar. Any recommendations/favourites one of you would care to pass along?
24 books, mostly classic lit because I was a degenerate in high school and never really did a lot of reading. Read Brave New World over Christmas weekend and had a pretty good time.

I read 38 in 2015, I was well on my way to my goal of 50 if I didn't have to spend the holidays working 2 jobs.

I have a small list of additional challenges, because reading x number of books can be boring.
I read two per day last year. I may do that again. I didn't set a goal until March last year.
