To what questions exactly?

life affirmation

That one for a start.

Philosophy didn't answer it mate, you did, and it didn't even address the essence of the question.

Expand, how?

many philosophers work to make life more tolerable and enjoyable

Guess mathematics don't solve equations either since people do, right? Philosophy has been the cornerstone of understanding. Mathematics itself is, in essence, applied philosophy. And mathematics happens to be the universal language of the universe.
>>
Literally nothing, all you need was given by God.

Some have done well to clarify and guide the soul of the seeker though.

Mathematics is a system of thinking that can be used to accurately model the world. So yes, equations are a tool used by people to solve problems.

It has offered us virtuous ethics. Aristotle also gave us a primitive comprehension of physics. Although his speculations were mostly incorrect, so too have many scientists claims, because it's all about the continuous cycle of: define, refine, re-evaluate.
>>

Perhaps, but is that truly what philosophy is about. Or isn't that just the scientific method you are referring to. Define Refine Re-Evaluate. Refining referring to experimentation.
>>
Well for one thing it's led to the development of the field of psychology
>>
>>7514505
Science, as it is based upon fundamental philosophical assumptions.
>>
>>7514792
And what are those assumptions? That the world can be modeled according to thought?

Science, Democracy

"Philosophers have only interpreted the world in various ways. The point however, is to change it." --Karl Marx

I think economics of the revolutionary socialist variety are far more useful to humanity than asking yourself if you really and truly want to fuck your mom. Freud was a coke addict who tried to give meaning to dreams.

He was wrong. Psychoanalysis is a secondary venture in a world full of exploitation and recessions every 17 years.

The scientific method, moral error theory, antinatalism.

Eventually, it led to the development of the scientific method

i agree that modern philosophy is a shit hobby

Not /lit/, reported.

Freud is not a field of study, stay mad that your mom is ugly
>>

the vast majority of people have literally no idea about anything philosophical beyond what they learnt in RE in secondary school, basic stuff like utilitarianism (which is itself only studied superficially) because it's a 'safe' philosophy to study because it won't offend anybody. As for what modern philosophers do even fewer people have any idea what the landscape of academic philosophy is like, and fewer again would understand it if they did. Philosophers may try to make things better for people, but apart from some contributions to medical ethics their efforts are felt by almost nobody.
