r/writingprompts is probably the worst fucking sub there is, every single suggestion is utter shit. Have you ever seen something like: [WP] A harrowing introspection into the human condition as told by a dying veteran recounting his experiences. No, of course not, that might actually produce some literature. Instead you get shit like LOL IMAGINE IF WE WERE ALL SUPERHEROES, BUT NOBODY KNEW WE WERE!!!!!! or IMAGINARY CREATURES LOOK EXACTLY LIKE PEOPLE EXCEPT FOR ONE DAY A WEEK, WHERE THEY ALL HAVE TO DISGUISE THEMSELVES LMAO!!!!!
I have no fucking idea how it makes it to the front page every fucking day. All the writing is YA tier in quality, superficial, bland, uses the exact same fucking writing style (swearing in the prose lolxd I'm really pushing the boundaries of literature) and tries so, SO hard to be funny but always fails in every way.

i know fuck all about writing but when i visit r/writingprompts and read the first sentence of each submission i immediately detect that it's bad, amateurish writing, like they're trying too hard to follow advice from one of those writing tips info graphics that emphasises the importance of a "strong, attention grabbing first sentence"
