said we call our language the language of Molière but it doesn't mean much really, as influential as he was there isn't a huge gap between him and the rest of French lit, even in his era you could argue that Racine and Corneille are better, and then you have to add to the mix other giants like Balzac, Hugo, Flaubert, Baudelaire, Rimbaud who were all extremely influential in their own way.
