>the book itself is the narrator
>>
>>7469923
im not entirely sure, its either going to be they entirely degrade themselves by hunting the streets/sewers/garbage to find the cats (Burroughs style) or the dealers drop the cats off in at a certain cattery and the buyers collect it, where the owner would get curious and become wrapped up in the plot somehow

leaning towards the second but writing both at the moment
>>
>>7469940
what if the cats have a microchip and buyers have a detector? Different cats have different quantity of drugs that match to the buyer. At one point a druggie breaks down and starts to eat everything on four legs because it might have drugs.
>>
Unreliable narrator / The Narrator is the killer.
>>
>>7469961
that's another possible avenue yeah! considering having elements of both, like the privileged who can afford it can have them dropped off at the cattery, the poorer addicts with a more serious problem can't afford that and have to find them. the detector idea is decent, was considering ever so slightly it in the back of my head but definitely going to give it more thought
the scene you describe would be fun to write, i'll credit you when it comes out man

From a novel I wrote long ago that will never see the light of day:

Takes place between three characters in a future city. A can see the future. B can block A's ability and A tries to kill him. C is a private eye hired to find A.

End of the novel: A's story is revealed as a precursor to the present moment, where he holds B at gunpoint and sees in the future that he kills B. However, B's ability is blocking the real future, and A's only experiencing delusions of success.

So although he thinks he's seeing the future, C shoots him before he can kill B.

the story is told by an omniscient narrator.
BUT it is revealed 1/3 into the story that he is a big brother type who knows everything while being a character in the story. the protag try to kill the narrator to end the dystopia. the story ends when the narrator dies.

>>
>>7470267
I-Is it good?
>>
>>7470297
It's over done - it's just a convoluted version of the "it was all a dream" trope - it's predictable, and it sounds like something an angsty teenager would come up with after having watched an M. Nigh Shyamalan movie. Don't get defensive. I'm not an "idea guy".
>>
>>7470304
It's not just a dream though, the main character is her lover, it's not predictable because he is fleshed out and has his own family. It's not even an angry twist, it's one about coping.
>>
>>7470301
I remember it as good. It's an anime, but don't let that discourage you. You can watch it on youtube. I recommend you should at least check it out.
>>
>>7470308
Stop trying to explain this to me. I'm not saying it's equivalent; it's just a "person not actually existing" fake out, in the same way as "it was all a dream" is. Maybe predictable was the wrong word, but it's the type of twist that once discovered, the reader goes: "not this shit again. That's disappointing." Like the ending of "The Dark Tower".
>>
>>7470320
no, no, it's not like that where at the end he realizes he's a dead person, at the climax at the book, the perspective of the story switches to her. In her perspective he stops coming over and then she longs in the street for him. It's not straight out "he not real whole time lmao"
>>
>>7470343
That makes more sense, but then I wouldn't classify it as a twist. The point isn't the shock of the discovery; it's the way the character deals with it.

Shouldn't be too hard if you kept the same length and stick to German(likelyhood of characters for longer texts are fairly constant for a language). You might need one weird adjustment chapter at one point, but that's it. If you don't use German you might have a hard time finding a good use for À â ü and ß.

Dictator ushers in a new world order and puts all resources into searching for a mythical weapon which is said, in lore, to destroy the world. Hero/Heroine pursues this supposed weapon through journal entries from archaeological parents who tried there best to obscure information. Hero/Heroine turns out to be said weapon and is destined to destroy the very world they desire to save. Additional twist is the hero/heroine doesn't destroy the world but instead the world order set forth by the dictator, by becoming known as an additional oppressive force (or dictator), taking over the world, and planning their own demise at the hands of an informant. Effectively destroying the world, creating a new oppressive world, and destroying the world yet again for it to be recreated by and for the people. Would also put some socialist/communist undertones in the new world order.

The novel begins in media res. The setting is pastoral and idyllic southern France, 353 million years into the future, sunk 59 thousand feet under the sea, inside a specific square meter. I give a strict historical account of the geological activity, sedimentation and stratification inside that square meter over the past 353 million years, then make a projection forward for the next 7 million years, this is broken up into 83 chapters pre and 3 post era of inquiry.

The last line of the book encourages the reader to reread every prime letter of the book from the beginning, counting the first letter of the first line as 1. The resulting block can only be decrypted by using a one time pad key which is obtained by selecting every 505th letter counting the first letter of the first line as 1. The decrypted block is simply the last line of the book.

Time travel story where the mechanism is splitting timelines to prevent paradoxes. The story starts splitting into many equally valid narrative threads, all of which gradually lead back into eachother as the main antagonist is revealed to be the protagonist from the alternate timeline who has travelled back to the original thread.
