Any thoughts about The Cosmic Race (La raza cósmica) by José Vasconcelos, /lit/.
Is globalization really creating a fifth race which is destined to dominate the world and bring human kind to the path of cosmic glory?
why do people imagine that the human race is destined for "glory"? or even "cosmic glory"?
what is "glory"?
it's where the other apes in the tribe celebrate something cool you did. like killing that hyena with a stick.
i can only guess that "cosmic glory" is where you kill a hyena with gamma radiation channeled from a pulsar.

No, I think it's a completely unrealistic project doomed to failure.
I do not think man can possibly achieve such a glory in a universal manner, in any way. With the exception of following an eschatological event such as the return of Christ.

Yes, but that race will not be a human one.
internal shift is the answer, not external.

pls elaborate
>>7457733
What do you mean by internal shift?
>>7456357
/lit/ is good somedays

without the return of an evolved consciousness that redefines priorities, conduct, principles, and eventually what the true meaning of "glory" is, we are basically apes whooping over who killed what, or who conquered what in some superfluous attempt at resolving a profound complication

Are you implying we once did had an 'evolved conciousness' compared to now?
Why do you think so?

>a race of slaves with high African and Native American admixture following the worst forms of Catholicism in a diseased and resource-poor part of the world will make humanity "great" again
How silly. Even the guy who came up with it didn't take it seriously and said that he wrote this down to improve the morale of a downtrodden people.
Hippies and Jews had a more realistic idea of how an outsider group could change the world for the better.

jesus was a human of exceptional attainment, as unsavory as the pathetic husk weaker men have built around his teachings is. classical greek civilization had elements that were pointed to a conscioussness above that of modern man. you could list out several civilizations from the past that, while lacking in material sophistication, developed an internal apparatus to experience the world elegantly and in depth. the point is that some cultures, some traditions actually facilitate the evolution of mind, the frontal lobe, consciousness. but its pointless to situate it in time, as it is an ongoing process.
people become less animal and more human all the time, every day. peoplealso become more animal and less human all the time, every day.
i think in 2015 the 1st world is mostly lost in a maze of deep existential suffering and wasteful unconsciousness, brought upon by inattention, brought upon by disavowal.

>Jesus
>human

So basically you cherry pick a few people that haven been filtered through myth and exaggeration from thousands of years ago and see it as evidence that people were more noble back then?
>>7458688
you really look around and think we're the best we've ever been?
>>7457875
>>7459719
We're pretty much the same we've ever been.
You're just biased because the only guys you hear about of 2000 years ago were kinda cool and filtered through millennia of barstool stories.
yeah trevor noah is the ubermensch
hello is this the bloodborne thread
