Man, I needed to read this when I was around 14 for school. I liked it then probably because I was a kid, but later on, maybe even one year later I remembered it and tought "that novel was shit", so I tried to read it once more to prove myself wrong. Was 20-30 pages in and, yeah, it's shit. Didn't even bother to go on. But, to each his own.

The writing style is shit, as it was meant to imitate the register of a teenager, but taken to hyperbolic extremes. Definitely jarring and rather hard to get used to, though if you can settle in the novel is quite nice. What is the literary equivalent of a 'flick'? It's like a high-quality flick.
