I have to pick a book for a grade 12 ISU (independent study unit)
I'm gonna have to analyze it and write essays on it and shit.
I don't know what to pick, thought you might help me with some suggestions
(Anything between 100-300 pages)
I was thinking of:
The Alchemist
Death of a Salesman
The Stranger
Catcher in the Rye

Difficulty/ Enjoyability of the books? I don't know, just lay it on me

White Noise by Don DeLillo

3 or 4. I like Catcher more.

Go to bed. Make sure to wash the Dorito dust off your hands first.

>The Alchemist
don't
Read White Noise by Delillo.

The reason I'm considering the Alchemist is because I've read it already and I enjoyed it. I won't mind reading it again.
My dad has recommended The Stranger to me as well. Should I read a new book?

Give some titles you have read and your impressions of them. This willgmaybe give something of an idea of what you might best match up with.

What's White Noise about? What's wrong with it?

Pick gravity's rainbow. Even if your analysis of it is terrible your teacher will respect your choice of novel.

The Alchemist, imo, is glorified self help, and Vonnegut is the best at that genre. Anyways, The Stranger is an easy read, and it's a good gateway drug to philosophy, but I strongly reccomend White Noise because it's themes will be very easy to write about for anyone living in a western country.

I really enjoyed Dystopian literature, like 1984, Fahrenheit 451, BNW..etc.
I liked Animal Farm as well
I read Heart of Darkness over the summer, To Kill A Mockingbird, all classics really. I'm not much of a book worm as you can see.

For something very challenging, but interesting read Ben Marcus' The Flame Alphabet. You could read Billy Budd, short and a classic for a reason. The Crying of Lot 49, or something by Delillo if you want to become the standard lit poster.

The things they carried by Tim O'Brien is pretty good. It's simple and elegant and only about 230 pages. It would probably give you lots to write about. Also catch 22 was pretty good too.
