Kurosawa did a good rashomon. Giving it a read would be pretty cool.
This no doubt. Not samurai proper, but it's set during the war that turned aristocrats into samurai. It's also a great introduction to Zen if you're interested in that.

If you're also interested in non-fiction you should read Hagakure. It's advertised as some kind of manual on how to become an OG samurai, but it's filled with stories of samurai being crazy niggers, killing others and themselves willy nilly.
Also some cool anecdotes on accepting death.
