/lit/, who can say this guy didn't finished philosophy?
Protip: You can't
he didnt finish it. he only clarified how it works and why it emerges. it is as if someone described the anatomy of the body and how the digestion works to give the body cells material to build.
in the end it is equals to nothing, because none of us needs to know how our body or mind works for them to work.
when one is done with this guy one is where one started but with a different view of things, as if one first had some magical view of the body and food based on nature gods or magical substances and then after the anatomy class one had the scientific view: one still goes to eat the same lunch and the body still does the same stuff as before the new "insight".

He didn't even finish his own philosophical thought. He said that language is about games, but never clarified what those games actually are or how one can analyze them.
Basically all he did was spawn this thing called ordinary language analysis which then spawned the speech act theory, which by the way is pretty much dead and buried.
Reading him is fundamental for analytic philosophy students thought and one can not deny his impact on the foundations of analytic philosophy.

>analyze
>theory
>analytical
nah, what you are talking about is about the anglosaxon reading of his work and its development by people that didnt really read him. he was always against theory and if he didnt "analyze" the games it is because all he was for was description of them. for him, nothing else could or should be done.
in that sense he did finish his thought, what he did not finish was its exposition of it in a concrete way, but that was just because of his own vanity.
Every philosopher claims to have or at least tried to end philosophy. All they do is add to it.
