Octopuspie is a comic that started in 2007. It follows Eve Ning and her old-friend now roommate Hannah (I forget her last name), through adulthood, life, love, loss and general finding themselves-ness.
It only just recently started to showcase lgbtq themes with the characters Jane and Mar. So if you're only here for that then get reading cause there's a lot of story between the beginning and that.
Being a comic that started in 2007, the art has improved a shit ton since the beginning, and the characters make and lose a lot of friends along the way.
The writing is humorous, self-aware, and isn't afraid to make the world a little goofy just for the fuck of it

How so? It looks like a western cartoon style to me. The author does jobs for Boom! Studios. Actually, that was one of the reasons Sakana used to have an awful update schedule. Anything that has western cartoon elements doesn't automatically make it Tumblr tier.
Yes, Tumblr enjoys the cartoons featured in Boom! Studios comics. However, those does not automatically mean the style is Tumblr tier by default.
If you truly want a published comic that falls into the Tumblr category, check out that Squirrel Girl side comic. Pretty much all comic goers detest its lazy blob people. That's what Tumblr art is, some dumb fans who want to emulate their favorite cartoons but only do the noodly appendages and wacky shapes because the rest actually takes effort.

I don't think it's "lesbian fetish" but more the bdsm fetish. There aren't any comics that center around bdsm and romance. There are books, but Sunstone fills a certain niche. I dismissed it as a mere fetish but the comic shed some light on the dynamics of a sub/dom relationship and how in certain contexts it can be romantic.
