Not everyone lives in the US, not everyone has equal rights everywhere. I can't get married in my country. A lot of people get imprisoned or executed in many places around the world, just for being gay. Maybe one thing in America is that you can still legally get fired in many states just for being gay, while no straight person would get fired just for being straight, even though that's not exactly a "right" per se.
Also I didn't imply you didn't have equal rights, I was implying that the conservative republicans to which these kinds of gays are pandering DO support abolishing many rights for gay people (marriage, legal protection where there is, etc.). I'm just stating for a fact that republicans haven't exactly been gay rights champions at all, and that they still support abolishing a lot of these hard-earned advances.
