And I know I'll either be ripped into or just ignored for saying this but I'm a straight dude who sometimes lurks. I think I do have some insight to your situation though and over the course of my life most of my close friends have been women. So read on or ignore as you wish.
I don't know how it works with women, but in my experience with men if they like someone on a personal/friendship level and don't find them physically repulsive then sooner or later they're going to develop feelings. From what I can tell it's almost an inevitability. Often it doesn't last, but it will almost always happen at some point.
Whether it's a problem or not depends on the guy and if he knows how to handle his feelings which, spoiler altert!: many don't. Because men are only taught to bottle shit up, not actually deal with it.
Your best bet for male friendships that aren't shit are either them being in a good relationship with someone they're already crazy about or they're just generally successful with women. They're the ones who can get a case of the feels and deal with it in a healthy way.
The ones to avoid in my opinion are the ones who are chronically unsuccessful with women and seek out a lot of female friendships. They're the ones who will fall for you the hardest and then not know how to handle their shit. They are often settling for friendship because they think it's the only way women will interact with them at all. They're miserable and they're often powder kegs.

Oh, just tell the therapist that. Therapists with experience in trauma are generally understanding of that sort of issue. Avoidance is literally one of the diagnostic criteria for PTSD, so as long as you've got a not-shit therapist they'd understand.
I have lots of issues with therapists so I've had to therapist-hop a lot, but my current one is awesome and it's well worth it once you find a good one. You don't have to relive anything if you don't want to/aren't ready to, and they can still help.
Anyway, highly recommend.
Oh! Have you thought about/tried DBT? DBT doesn't involve any reliving of anything at all, it's all about restructuring your life and giving you good coping mechanisms for emotional/psychological distress. DBT is the shit. It's massively improved my quality of life. Also highly recommend.

My life was hell and and I didn't grow up in a loving home as a child.
