Your uni may have some sort of bar, I doubt its exclusively lgbt, but it will probably have a mix of people there.
Still though, going on your own is the worst part of it all :(

Well the bars are just a bar in the end of the day, just a sort of hang out place, clubs are the actual hyped up scene. I've never been to a gay bar, only gay pubs, been to a few different nightclubs though. Really enjoyed those haha.
