I'm a pretty good singer, and I've come close to forming a band and such, but I'm transgender. I haven't gone through HRT yet, and to sum this all up:
>Don't wanna get voice feminization surgery to possibly fuck up my singing voice
>But I don't want to appear female and sing like a guy
What should I even do? I'm so confused with this. What's my best options?
Pic related. Current mood.

I used to sing bass two and talk like batman. I now have a passing voice and can marginally sing fem. practice.

what does she do?

Thanks, that actually really helps after looking her up. Knowing that there are other transgender singers that are successful really helps. OP here, btw.

Know your feels OP, I'm a professional singer in a touring band, doing session work too and trying to get onto HRT at present.

What is your range? I've been working on my high notes and I can belt with a Mezzo-Soprano now, which is an improvement from the Tenor range I had before self realisation.

This is funny because my band wants me to sing below my range (haven't come out to them yet) and session work hardly ever calls for a range as high as I'm practising.

Do nothing voice wise? That's fine & good, just wanting clarification.

I should also mention that while my range has gone up significantly, I still sound like a dude when I try to put any emotion into said high notes.

They still come out with heaps of bottom end and sometimes some distortion, which obviously takes work to get rid of.

Bottom line is practice head voice, belting & try talking in a slightly higher voice than you normally would.

I've been asking this for a while. I don't know.
