Only one restroom = one line for everyone, longer lines, more and bigger messes in said restroom. It would be so much more inefficient for anyone of either gender who actually uses public restrooms. As that bardyke talking about owning a place some time in the future I intend to just have one unisex bathroom. Not for any politicking reasons it's just cheaper and easier in my experience. One nice upkept one for the customers, another one for cooks/servers. Have this sort of extra private set up. Right now I'm planning a college bar. I know the property and seller is in my family. I'll have it at least within a few years. At least another year to open after that. But it's a perfect location for a college bar.
Gonna be basic american bar food with some texmex. Burgers, fish tacos, nachos, apps, salads with a bunch of fried chicken on it, some desserts, that kinda stuff. Plan to have a library theme and call it The Library. Menus that look like books, servers called librarians, books along the wall for decor and reading. Drink and dish named after well known books.
Long term if that does well enough I'll open a gay bar/cafe called Wilde Cafe. Similar library theme except coffee/pastry shop by day, gay club by night, gay books/artist paintings for decor.
And if that does even better I'll open a mexican restaurant called Trabajo/Work, make it more sports bar kinda mexican restaurant.
That's all long dreams though. Currently working more on the first one since it's the most planned out and feasible.

The Library sounds like a pretty cool idea. There's a nightclub near me that has that same theme going but it's a club so they don't serve food. Sometimes they have chocolate wrestling.
I've only worked in nightclubs so I don't have any experience with food, so my club was just going to be a nightclub. The thing is that alcohol laws in my city are increasingly restrictive so having a fun club is really hard. You have to be closed by 3am, can't sell red bull or shots after midnight, gotta worry about police coming in and checking if anyone is clearly intoxicated. It's just too hard, which is why we scrapped the idea. Not worth the risk of getting shafted by the government.
