For me trap hentai, live shemale porn, and the prospect of actually dating a trans girl all have very different appeals. I guess the common vein running through all of them is the way their femininity is accented by the juxtaposition of a penis, but other than that my feelings vary widely.

From a relationship standpoint, the attraction is that beneath the harmone-laced cocktail their brain is swimming in lies the cold, logical brain of your average man. Despite how emotional the harmones can make them, there is a man there.
This is somewhat flawed logic however, since a true "trans" wants to be female, period. Most did not sign up to be a tranny. People will real body dysphoria signed up to be female. Not regarding them as female is kind of disingenuous. Liking the penis is disingenuous.
From the physical / lust standpoint, it's a unique creature of sex. Somewhere in between genders in a liminal space where sex turns into something different than male or female. That's part of the attraction of futa to begin with - playing on both sides of the brain.
Lastly most of them want more than anything just to be accepted, and there's a certain kind of person (myself among them) who gets satisfaction by satisfying other people. Not all the time, but in cases like this, seeing and making them happy makes me happy to an extent. The world's overflowing with misery. Not quite so much the other way around. If I can get something out of it along the way, why not make them feel wanted?
Big question is: are they wanted for the right reasons, or reasons that are acceptable to them? Only they can answer that.
