Film is an industry, they make shit that makes money, it's not just art for arts sake. America might not be all white, but there's no big push for diverse stories because there's no market for it. Indie films already hard enough to make without trying to push for ideas that only a very small and not profitable percent of people want.

Minority viewers also make up like 45 percent of ticket sales for films. There's no push because nearly all production companies are vast majority white and majority male. People say go make your own media, but it's already stacked against them, when the people who read your script say that two black people not immediately dropping slang is unrealistic.
