Problem is that if they're big on conservative traditional values, obediance to the parent and traditional roles will come first. They might feel that you're not their daughter/son any more and freak out. You'd need a foundation of independence before talking to them probably, as a fall-back position from where you can reason with them if they react particularly bad and irrationally.
I've not had to deal with this shit though, so I probably don't know what real conservative parents would be like. Some would no doubt try to love you no matter what but their biases will make everything painful, awkward or horrible.
Honestly if your parents are strongly against it I think you should respect that and keep it to yourself until you have financial independence.
