Hello, I would just like to inform anyone who has a sexual dysphoria, and is bi-sexual or homo-sexual has a mental disorder. Much like pedophilia these are mostly environmentally influenced mental dysfunctions and can be treated. Psychosocial factors also play a large role in the development of a sexual identity crisis.
Homo here, I know I'm mentally ill, but I'd call "degeneracy" a symptom rather than a disease in itself.

A mental disorder, as far as I am aware, is supposed to cause great distress and impair regular living for the suffering person. Plenty of gay/bi people are living happy lives.

If someone is not accepted yes. For people 'in the closet' most are in great distress, once general social acceptance is granted they will feel much better. If someone has high-functioning autism and is aware of their illness then they can choose be be distressed or make better of it.
