This isn't true in all cases. But if you're depressed, and your libido is pretty much at its lowest already, why not try them? Medicine isn't a cure, it's a stepping stone to try and get better. You aren't going to take the pills and suddenly be happy and notice the sun is shining brighter, but maybe they give you that little boost you need to pull yourself up, get out of the circular thinking and start making changes. With an elevated mood, on meds you may very well find your libido returning. When I started taking the meds I'm on now, my doctor prescribed me it because the other one she had in mind tends to kill the libido, and she said at my age that's not something that people are too happy about.
