Hey /k/.

Bought my first gun last week and my second gun today. Ended up picking up a cz 75 sp-01. Went out back to shoot it and had four jams in 36 rounds. The previous shot would fire and the casing would eject, but the next bullet would get lodged with the tip in the barrel and the casing still in the magazine and the slide wouldn't close all the way.

This was the ammo I was using: http://www.targetsportsusa.com/aguila-9mm-ammo-115-gr-fmj-097704-p-3657.aspx

Switched to this: http://www.targetsportsusa.com/speer-lawman-9mm-ammo-115-grain-tmj-53650-p-662.aspx

And had absolutely no problems. Later loaded up a magazine with the Aguila and had a jam. Switched back to Lawman, no problems.

It's the ammo that's causing the problem, I'm guessing? I don't think I was limp-wristing (but I could be wrong).

Going to head to walmart and buy some Federal tomorrow.

With some break in (if it is a new handgun) it could very well tolerate worse ammo. Just use it, clean it, and lubricate it and it might start to feed shitty ammo.

It's brand new so maybe that's it.

Thanks

Break in could take awhile, so don't be disappointed after a few boxes of ammo. Honestly, it sounds like your handgun could do with a feed ramp polishing, but I am hesitant to suggest that (unless you bring it to a professional) for a novice gunsmith. Easy way to ruin a gun.
>>
Yeah, just break it in. I wouldn't worry unless you keep having jams after about 200 rounds. Trigger gets a lot better around then too. It shouldn't be limp wristing, my wife limp wrists the fuck out of my SP-01 with no issue.

I shoot the cheapest shit I can get my hands on out of my SP-01, never had a problem. I broke it in with mid tier ammo though just because that's what was at Walmart for my first range trip with the gun.

Thanks.

The trigger is taking some getting used to. I got the metal frame because I heard the trigger was much better on in but...all the give is a bit off-putting. Probably going to put another 100 rounds through it tomorrow so I'll get used to it.
>>
What is a break in?
I thought better of CZ, but I guess I was wrong

Sorry, forgot the aryan girl in a wheat field.

Take the barrel out of the gun and locate the feed ramps. Buy 3 grits of sandpaper, 80 grit, 160 grit, and 320 grit or 220 grit.
Now, take the 80 grit and polish the feed ramp until it is shiny.
160 grit for a few minutes, then finish it off with the 220/320 grit. Congrats, you've now polished your feed ramp, a 65$ gun smithing job
>>
>>30650928
You were using shitty Mexican ammunition, friendo.
>>
>>30650928
It doesn't really need a break in unless you are using the cheapest of ammo. They are accurate, sweet shooting guns.
>>
>>30650928
It's like buying new boots, brand new boots straight out of the box are stiff and wear on your feet, you have to wear them out a little bit before the soften and smooth up to become more comfortable.

Same applies to guns, brand new guns take a bit of firing before they smooth themselves out.

It's called a break in period.
>>
>>30650928
This is not op, and my gun didn't need a "break in"
>>
>>30650915
You need to get the Omega model if you want the good trigger.

Aguila is one of the worst ammo brands that isn't steel case. Anything's possible but the odds of you getting a lemon with a CZ are slim.

Clean it, lube it and try another brand. PMC is god tier.
>>
>>30650980
Good for you. However, with that, you sacrifice some things. Most likely, the tolerances may be looser, giving you slightly lower accuracy.
>>
>>30651083
Idk my usp is pretty accurate
>>
>>30651033
Not OP, but the stock CZ trigger is more than good for "social work". If you want that extra bit of accuracy potential, however, then the Omega is a good path to follow.
>>
>>30651089
In my personal experience, with a stock gun shop rental (moderate usage; well maintained) USP 9 the double action trigger was extremely heavy and unpleasant. Now I'm not saying that is indicative of your handgun, but it did turn me off them.
>>
>>30650915
The trigger gets better, don't worry. I was really disappointed when I first got it but it really smoothed out pretty quickly.

If you're still not happy with it after it smooths out grab a Cajun Gun Works hammer, sear, and trigger. It turns it into a trigger that can rival a nice 1911.

Personally I'm at the point where I like the stock trigger, it turned into something decent. I'm probably going to get the Cajun Gun Works parts but only because I love the gun and if it can be better I want to make it better, not because the trigger is so bad that I feel like I need the parts. Plus I want to convert to single action only. I'm in no rush though.
>>
>>30651138
When do you use the double action? Once?
You are worse than those striker only fags

I have an SP-01 Shadow and it won't feed Aguila consistenly either. It's the only ammo it doesn't eat that I've encountered. In my particular gun, it is definitely an ammo issue, as it always jams the same way. The round starts to feed, and then that weird crimp Aguila puts in their cases gets caught on the top of the chamber mouth and snags, jamming up the gun.

It's the only gun I've had this happen with, and it happens VERY consistently, same way every time. I think it's just a perfect match of feed angle on this gun that positions the case to snag there. If Aguila didn't put that crimp, I don't think it would jam, but who knows.
>>
>>30651151
More than a few times, as I was trying out hammer fired 9mm handguns in general. I reset it to double action after every three rounds to get a feel for the gun. In the end I preferred CZ the most.

After I shoot a bit more I'll probably trade it out.

>>30651067

Gonna pick up some federal tomorrow and try that out.

>>30651147

How many rounds did you go through before the trigger cleaned itself up?

>>30651164

Thanks. That makes me feel a lot better.
>>
>>30651188
>How many rounds did you go through before the trigger cleaned itself up?
Hard to say, I dry fired it a shit ton though to try to break in the trigger mechanism. I don't think I was upset about it for more than about a month though so let's say 200 rounds and a lot of dry fires.
>>
>>30651188

I'm no hickok, but I've never had any sort of failure/malfunction with Federal. I'm sure you'll get through all of it fine, just seems like a weird unhappy combination of your particular model and that ammo as >>30651164 says

>>30651151
It's almost as if different people have different preferences
>>

The original CZ-75 was designed specifically for the S&B 124gr FMJ 9mm cartridge. Sellier & Bellot is an ammo company from the Czech Republic. Most CZ 9mm handguns prefer 124gr FMJ cartridges, but all handguns are different.

You have to experiment and figure out yourself what your handgun likes to eat.
>>
>>30650803

This is >>30652059

I forgot to ask... Since this was a brand new handgun, did you clean it before you first shot it?

I used to shot CZ's in local steel target speed shooting competitions. The only time I had problems with FTFs and FTEs was on cold, dry days when my gun would dry out and need to be re-lubricated. Those problems cleared up when I started using Eezox, a dry lubricant.
>>
>>30650803
return it and get a beretta
>>
>>30653638
thats not a P226/229/320
>>
>>30652139

No. Wouldn't think I'd need to clean a new gun.

>>30651188

Just send the frame in to Bill Springfield for a trigger job, he does amazing work on CZ's. Or theres always Cajungunworks.
You're not stuck with a shit trigger, but jesus did Mr. Springfield unleash its potential. Most my groupings from my CZ go in the same hole now.
>>
>>30650932
Startting at 80 grit....... No thanks.

I start at 220 and move all the way up to 3000 then get jewlers paste and keep going.
