A friend of mine and I recently got into a conversation about what ammo we carry for self defense. I carry some 124 grain +P hollow points and then he told me he just carries FMJ.
I didn't say anything because he's been shooting for longer than I have so I assume he has some reason for doing this.
It gets worse though. He says later in the conversation that he's decided to get some self defense ammo instead of using his target practice ammo for self defense. From this point it's all downhill, because he has decided he wants to carry 9mm shotshells.
My sin in this is that I said nothing to stop him. He and possibly his wife and children are possibly going to get themselves killed. It's even worse because he carries a semi-auto which will effectively be a glorified Derringer.

I have chronic pain to the point where I'm taking gabapentin and fentanyl. I tried dabs a couple times as well as CBD oil and it was the only thing that helped get my pain down to a minimal level.
To get surgery done, I have to stay on fentanyl, to stay on fentanyl I take have any trace of CBD or THC in my system. So I'm in pain with a bunch of heavy drugs that are fucking me up royally.

I have no idea if any of these are unpopular around here since I'm new, but I guess here's my strong opinions RE: gun stuff.
I have a policy of never selling guns and I plan to stick to it but at times I regret it because I have more than a few that I don't shoot enough.
I think the whole SBR/AR pistol thing is lame as fuck and except for a few really well done ones they're universally hideous.
Slidefire stocks are fucking stupid and everyone that uses them is a jackass.
I find the AR platform to be extremely bland and will probably blow a shitload of money on objectively inferior battle rifles because an AR-10 just sounds so meh.
I inherited my grandfather's guns and I guess I like them because they were his but goddamn are they some shit guns. I'm guessing both of them were the cheapest guns on the used wall at his LGS when he got them.
I don't own a safe and have no intentions of getting one in the near future. In the past this never bothered me because I wasn't worried about someone breaking in and stealing my double-barrel clays guns and using them in a drive-by or whatever, but now that I've got pistols I don't know if that reasoning works anymore. Still dont plan on getting one.
99% or more of people who open carry are shitheads and I'd be completely okay with it if Open carry was restricted in public.

Personally I'm a self-employed contractor who installs or adjusts ship compasses. While I don't always have to lug around a huge brass compass binnacle, the few times I do I stick it in my bed. Since I go to a lot of ports or backwoods areas along the coast, they often flood the roads where sedans or hatchbacks wouldn't be able to navigate. Plus trucks are hella comfy for extended drives compared to virtually any other type of vehicle on the market. What I personally don't understand is the notion that trucks are only used for construction or off-roading.

Of all the firearms I own, my AR is the one I've dumped the most money into and it's the most boring to shoot. It doesn't have any personality. I'd take my K31 or PTR 32 over it in a heartbeat.
I'd be perfectly happy if all I had to shoot was a suppressed bolt action. 22lr and some form of rifle I can fuck around with. Otherwise, I'm perfectly content collecting for the sake of collecting and saving a little bit of history.
I've had problems with my retinas in the past so rifles with solid recoil (think .308 with no recoil pad and muzzle brake) or pressure waves really bother me because I fear they could mess up my eyes. Yes, I wear eye protection.
I used to be tfwnogf.jpg until I moved out and realized how much I like my independence and having my own place. I currently can't see myself sharing a space with someone else for quite a while. And then I worry it'll be too late. And my social skills aren't the most polished.
