I personally prefer jungle boots, but they beat up your feet after a long day constantly on them, atleast for me. RAT Boots are probably one of the most comfortable boots i've ever owned, but they're heavy as hell. Looking for any reccomendations similar to this.

Thanks for the input. I mostly work in hard tiled spaces with a little outside, that combined with the hardness of the rubber and steel plate really made my feet hurt after awhile. Did the plate ever fall out on yours?

Never even came close. With the exception of winter environments, I forgot it was even there.

Cold weather and metal compounds the effects of chilly feet.

Oakley Light Assault Boot

>Bonus points for reviews!
I've had mine for two years now. They're my security guard footwear so I've worn them for about 625 shifts so far.
Cost $125?
They're still serviceable.
Feel similar to my Nike Free's.
I can sprint like the wind.
They dry out FAST.
Super silent, my pants make more noise than the boots. Consequently, I've had to find the quietest pair of pants possible to walk in. Your pants will always be louder than the sound of these boots hitting the ground.

But there's no steel shank so while I haven't caught a nail yet, if I do it will puncture my foot.
The only boot I'd actually replace them with (for work) are Danner Tachyons.

Danner is one of the few boot companies that actually make a 4E, and actually state the sizing rather than just stating "wide". I wanted a boot that I could have repaired rather than just chucked out. I wish they had a bit more cushioning though. Adding an insole just crowds up the toebox.
>>
>>30630458
I genuinely dont understand those zipper attachments, maybe because my ankle is small so it probably wouldnt work.
>>
>>30630482

I just wanted try them and surprisingly it "laces" up nice and tight. These are 8'' tall so they go well over the ankle. If the zipper ever breaks or something I always have the two laces to put back in :)

My personal favorites are Brahma brand work shoes. They don't cost much more than decent sneakers (40 bucks or so a pair) but Christ do they last forever. And not only that, but they are almost all steel-toe, except a few that are rated for electrical work. Best of all they have several "models" or whatever that are basically styled just like ordinary sneakers; they look nice for everyday, ordinary wear.

Naturally Wal-Mart is completely fucking sold out of size 11s of the kind I want, and my old pair are finally falling apart. Goddammit.

>>
>>30631493
They're definitely hotter, and not always worth it.
If you're somewhere you don't think it's likely to get your feet wet, like an arid area, I wouldn't wear them.
If you're somewhere it rains a lot or there's a bunch of places to get your feet wet, they're generally worth it, imo.
>>
>>30631391

Those were horrible. I remember some parts were made of cardboard that would collapse if it got wet.

>>
>>30631493

I used to use cheap boots that were "waterproof" (basically just a rubber membrane) and the boots would be like an oven inside. Goretex really keeps things much cooler provided you don't use the wrong polishes on leather boots.

>>
>>30639445
Sounds like shitty made footwear.

When I was going through Ranger school, we were asked to volunteer to wear experimental boots. The hook and bait was that we could keep whatever we wore.

I said fuck that. I wore my issue leg boots. Others stepped up and took on the challenge. They all - 100% of them - regretted it. The backs blew out, the soles came undone and the stitching loosened.

I almost felt sorry for them. The only suck thing was those who I needed for my assault teams. I would have had hard chargers. Instead, I had whiny bitches.

Stick with what you know.

Hey /k/,

I'm in the process of getting a uniformed security and an armored courier job here soon, and my boss said that I would need to purchase and wear a black boot that fits with the uniform or is a uniform style boot. I'm gonna be on my feet from anywhere between 8-12 hours so I would prefer a boot that is more for walking/running on mostly even terrain (probably concrete/asphalt and dirt roads), that will be used in hot and cold climates with minimal humidity.

Any recommendations on what I should be looking for in particular? Should I buy a pair for hot weather and a pair for cold weather? Thanks!

Currently wearing Belleville C390's that somehow have a rip in the rubber from walking in sand for 9 months. Anything good, fol/k/s?

Couldn't ask for uglier, less stable shoes. This needs to die.

Salomon Quest 4D II is GOAT plebs. Invest in your feet.

I used to work an outfitter store for weekend warriors and adventure-fags. I've worn Asolo, Solomon, Merril, Garmont, North Face, Danner, blah blah blah.

Gods honest truth is that most of the time the shoe is specific to the wearer, the purpose of the shoe vs the needs of the wearer, and quality of the slave labor that made the shoes.

For general purpose operations I used USMC Danner Rats, personal purchase. The issued RATs fell the fuck apart and I largely believe that to be the fault of the specific manufacturer. As a result a lot of jarheads distrust Danner, which I find to be a shame, they make good product, it's just ass over head expensive.

For civilian side work I wear an approach shoe from Merrill because they break in quick, are priced well, and will a good insole feel great.

If you need some good guidance on insoles I strongly recommend "Superfeet" copper. It was like standing on a temperpedic bed and I could transfer them from shoe to shoe.

Meme tier, i know they arent but clarks desert boots arent fucking comfortable. Sole is too soft, they slip, weird sizing and they look horrible with anything other than tan socks and rhodie shorts

I wore RAT's, i got from the outlet store here in portland, today to mow the lawn and other lawncare. Lasted 2 hours and my left foot's arch hurts like hell, and that was over 12 hours ago.

What works for me does not translate to "will work for everyone." Try stuff on and walk around the store for a bit with it.

If you're having arch pains I feel bad for you son, there's 99 problems and the insole will solve 98 of them.

5906 Worx by Red Wing. They took about 2 weeks to fully break in. Steel toe box, steel shank, textured rubber heel and toe. A bit on the heavy side, but they feel like they are definitely going to hold up. I wear them every day.

BUT, /k/ probably has some fucking hang up about Red Wings that I haven't discovered yet, so flame away nogunz!

Is it a good idea to get something like pic related? I live on 62 acres and there's about a mile hike around the property (southern VA near the mountains). I also go out to do stuff like garden and get the mail and shoot things and stuff. I usually wear flip flops because they're easy and I'm looking for something better.

For input, I've had these for well over a year. I do a lot of walking, running, and general outside work in them.
>>
>>30643412
i had those, they were awful. fit was shallow and they squeaked like a mofo.
>>
>>30642451
Same, but more my "go to the grocery store" boots because I like the look with jeans. They get fucked the second you stray from the sidewalk though, I've already gone through two pairs doing shit to them that they weren't designed for. Traction is nonexistent which makes them hard to wear sometimes.

Basically I like them but I don't think I'm going to ever get another pair, I'm way too hard on them. I get why they're standard for men's fashion stuff but they can't stand up to even the remotest /k/ user.
>>
>>30643511
Ugh. I basically just want hiking Crocs. It's a pain in the ass to find socks and put on boots multiple times per day and if I don't find a good alternative I'm just going to keep wearing flip flops.

I had a pair of Keen sandals and they only last 10 months of daily wear before they blew out. I have a pair of merrell hiking boots that I've used for doing hikes, 5mi walks, rain and muddy shooting, and general farm use over the past 5 years and they are still going strong.

I'm not saying merrell boots are great cause they aren't. they are a decent starter boot to let you learn what you need in a boot before you drop 250+ on a serious pair of shoes.

I currently use lowa renegade gtx mids for general hiking or when I'm out and about on the ranch. They've been holding up well so far.

Just use the merrells to figure out how you walk your boot. if you tend to get toe blowouts and just more general wear on the toe then I'd look at something like the lowa ronan gta since it has a 1 piece construction to minimize toe blowout risks.

Nah they're not painful, really. One thing I don't particularly like is that leather straps with holes means that the fit is usually a littls too tight or a little too loose. It shouldn't hurt, since at that point you could just go up a hole.

Got a pair of Danner rivot tfx's that I ended up having to send back because they were a little narrow. Seemed like fucking awesome boots, they were heavier than the nikes that I had, but honestly they felt lighter and sturdier which is awesome
