I am thinking about purchasing a FN FNX in .45 ACP. It has a double stack magazine that holds 15rds. I was wondering what some of you guys were thinking about this pistol.

really neat gun with a lot of features for $1100.
the squishy thing was just a bad batch of plastics, which has since been rectified (according to fn)

I want one. But I already have a 1911. So I was looking at the FNX 9mm which is 2/3 of the weight, sounds good, but there's no tactical version.

As a range gun why not buy something with a better trigger and better ergonomics like a 1911 or P220? Unless it's going to be used for self defense it's high capacity is not worth it's trade offs. Would be good in a SHTF open carry scenario or as a competition gun with an rmr.

I have one and love it.
My brother bought the US and we had a little comparison. Over all, you can't beat the USP ergonomics and cool factor, but I do dig the FNX. Obviously a huge sidearm. CC is next to impossible unless you're a big guy.
It functions well, and other than the "SQUISHY SQUISHY" it's pretty much perfect for a duty pistol.
I wish I got one with the threaded barrel :/

I've got an FNX45 2 feet away from me as I lay in bed.
I ended up selling my red dot for it (some sucker payed full price on eBay).
And when you shoot it, the FDE color really shows the gun powder marks.
Surprisingly accurate. Noticeably more accurate than other pistols.
Every gun has their flaws though, except maybe a Glock 19. Out of my 20-30 guns the Glock 19 is still the best. Because with a Glock when SHTF you're not staring at a pretty pistol, you're shooting and killing the bad guys.

I have one in black and like it a lot. The only real "negative" I can say about it is when it's loaded and especially if you've added optics/suppressor/lights it's somewhat heavy but most people won't use it as a carry gun anyway, I don't. Also the finish on the barrel around where it contacts the slide seems to wear faster than that of a Glock. But it's pretty easy and fun to shoot well, the gun doesn't feel awkwardly large or clumsy while shooting and I don't even have large hands. It also comes with a lot of accessory mounting options and I also like how the safety/decocker functions, making it easy to put the gun in either condition 1 or 2.

The accuracy was what surprised me the most about mine too. The very first shot I ever took with it was dead center, as was most of the rest of the mag. I also think the sights that come on the tactical model are some of the best handgun sights I've used.

Unless you plan on getting a suppressor and/or a red dot for it, skip the tactical and get the standard version. You'll save like $600.

I own a FNX and so love it. I'd like to get a silencer for it. But I don't want to go through the trouble to get one.
I think you could buy a USP if you wanted a better gun

I'm a USP fanboy but the FNX is cool. I messed around with one at a local Title II shop, I didn't like the grip or the weird round end of the mag but it seemed like a solid pistol. Fuck FDE though, go all black

It's a nice handgun for sure. Grip is nice, threaded barrel is a great feature to have, i love the cocking serrations on the front, the option for optics, and the loaded chamber indicator.
But, my USP has my heart thoroughly locked away. Fits my hand like a glove and is just a great pistol. I love the look of it too (it isnt too gaudy with rails, threaded barrel, and such.)
Only gripe is the grip. I wish it was more like the FNs as I have sweaty hands and, when I'm shooting without gloves, I feel less in control of the weapon.

I like the 9mm one just a little more because muh capacity (and subsonic 9mm suppresses better), but 15+1 shots of anything .380ACP or higher I'd say is reasonably good enough.
