mk262 is probably the best you can buy "in bulk". If you reload the best you could probably do it a 55gr barnes tsx with 25 gr of Varget or Ramshot Tac behind it.
If you just want shit to shot, wolf Gold M193 is pretty hard to beat.

I usually shoot 53-55 gr boat tail match bullets up to 200yrds (no wind days)
& 75gr hornady boat tail hollow points or Amax for 200yrds on a windy day or further
I can get them to hit 9,10s & X's at 600 if I can hold the gun straight

M193 is pretty fucking brutal on soft targets.
My AR is the only firearm I own that I don't keep a box of special defensive ammo around for. Whenever I think there is a possibility of shit going down, like when Zimmerman got acquitted, I keep it next to my bed with to 30 rounders of basic bitch M193 ball.
That being said, if you own an AR as a varmint gun rather then just a general purpose rifle, you should probably look into some quality loads from groups like Hornady.

Right but M855 and M193 are better at penetrating than 7.62 NATO rounds.
The misleading part is that level 3 protects against all the bigger/slower 7.62 NATO rounds but does NOT protect against smaller faster rounds like M193 (and to a lesser extent M855)

Xm193 is by far the best to stock up on. As long as it has the necessary velocity it will wreck both soft tissues and bone. Highly underrated round IMO and it is generally cheaper than m855. Besides 193 I would get some mk262 if you can get it for a good price. You can get American Eagle 193 on PSA for $7 for 20 rounds
