I want a good BOB that wouldn't look totally autistic to have with me at work. Decent capacity but I'd rather it not be huge/heavy.

For real. This is exactly why I don't want one, I want something that can replace one.

Word of warning, it folds out flat and it's very likely you're going to need velcro pouches to organize your kit inside the pack.
>>
>>30592882
>folds out flat
That gives him easy access to his gear. Just buy some lightweight silnylon pouches for organization and he is ready to roll.
>>
>>30592882
You can just open the top like a regular old crappy top stuff camping pack. The velcro inserts are getting harder to find (they were limited stock last year when I was buying them). And it hurts really bad inside knowing you'll never use the MP7 velcro attachments.
>>
>>30592912
I know, it's just that the majority of 'tactical' brands haven't really innovated for pack access outside of the few gucci brands.
>>
Anybody got any other suggestions? Id like if it were as low profile s possible without being hipster trash.

any oldish bag that has metal buckles, leather preferably. you want a durable bag.

Put a lot of weight in it and see how much you hate your life.
>>
>>30593469
its expensive for what it is.
its already needlessly heavy
its leather and canvas, so if it gets wet its going to STAY wet until you take everything out to dry it, and when its wet it will also increase the weight a lot
it has no back support
it wont breathe when its against your skin
the straps arent supportive and will dig into your shoulders hard

I've been using this one for about a year, it's waxed and decently waterproof, spacious and in the front pocket there is a holster
>>
>>30593570
its also indestructible compared to most backpacks and a frame isn't hard to add.
>>
>>30592818
Fuck for above $300 I'd better be getting something perfect, not something with no internal compartments.
>>
Jansport. $50 or so for a good pack that will last you a good long while. All while making you look more "student on the go" than "THE TREE OF LIBERTY". It's great to have a neato super-duper Maxpedition pack that will hold your everything forever and look good doing it. But getting 90% of the performance for 20% of the price, while being largely discrete in a nondescript black or navy blue? That is absolutely BOB material.
>>
>>30592587
I think I've decided to get the 44 version of this. I will get a real small 1 man tent and pad the hang under it innawoods, and then a first aid kit for the side. Some clothes in the bottom, food/cookware above that, and then the other side will have maps and shit. Ammo boxes stored in the middle near my shoulder blades, and mags on the hip supports.

Molle 2 assault pack is bretty good. Swissgear laptop backpacks are good for low-profile carry, only complaint is that the stitching in the straps is weak.

Bout to blow my load getting a Mystery Ranch Crew Cab.

3 day pack sized, but it blows open to have extra storage for whatever the fuck you need. Basically you can use it for anything as long as you aren't planning to do a 2 week hike in the mountains.

By all accounts they are pretty durable since it's basically a burlap sack with straps. You could probably fit something in the 15" range in it, with some space to spare, but it would probably be a bitch to close.

I got one of these back in 09 and it's been holding up well since. Only recently did the chest strap buckle break, but that was an easy enough fix. I took this as reason to get a lapg 3 day pack(something else you might wanna check out) but I still find myself coming back to using this pack. It doesn't have a lot of molle, so it's more civvie looking. It also has more divided compartments so don't expect to just toss anything in there, you gotta be a bit selective. Though everything would be pretty well organized. If you do get it, I recommend you make a frame sheet from something, or pack a mat close to your back for support, helps a lot.

Mystery Ranch ASAP. I'd post pictures but I'm at work. Think of a internal frame pack but for a pack enough for 24-74 hours(day pack essentially) depending on how frugal you are with your load out.
>>
>>30606798
>How fucked am I?
not at all. why'd you buy it?

i'be been using this one daily for about 5 years now and i like it quite a bit.
there's not a lot of built-in storage, but you can add pouches to it if you want

if you just bought it impulsively, you may not like it

This is an outstanding medium size pack, perfect BOB size. I've had mine loaded up to 35-40 pounds comfortably. It doesn't scream "tactical or military" either, especially in the grey or blue colors. They are on sale and in stock for under $110.

All three. Occasionally they run huge sales, so just wait on one of those.

Kek...

Ive been waiting for a while to have them shipped overseas. Sadly Americans really hog their operator shit.

Goruck seems like the perfect combination between non-autistic, a tiny bit of molle. Neutral, yet tactical colors. High quality, wont rip. Inside molle straps...

One day... one day theyll come to Europe...
>>
>>30608797

What exactly is wrong with that? There are bungee cords that you can't see in the pic to cinch up the top. It's not like you have to even use them anyway, the pack has a hydration sleeve.
