/k/ what is it like to get shot? what is the feeling comparable to? every time i see someone getting shot, they don't move as much. is it because it hurts to move or is it that they just can't move?
>>
>>30572019

If you get shot in the chest would imagine your lungs would be temporarily or fully collapsed, so now your body needs extra oxygen but gets very little.

It feels like extreme heat at the place of impact for a few moments, and as you start to lose blood it feels like creeping cold that starts spreading.
>>
>>30572019
from what i've heard getting fatally shot just drains all of your strength and you don't move much. But if your adrenaline is up and you are freaking out you might not even feel getting shot in a non-vital area until you come down.

I caught a 7.62x39 in my front plate. felt like someone smacked you in the chest with a sledgehammer. once you remember to breath, the adrenaline kicks in.

>Worst of all, the crash had taken off
Zanardi's lower legs--his right at the knee and his left at the thigh, four to five inches above the knee. "The force of the crash was so violent that it didn't cut his legs off," says Steve
>Olvey, CART's director of medical affairs. "It blew them off. It was almost identical to what happens to soldiers who step on land mines."
>Lon Bromley, CART's head of safety, saw him and did not think he'd make it through the extrication. "He was in deep shock from the loss of blood,"Bromley says, "and he had that sunken, gray, shallow look, with
glassy eyes."
>He first saw Zanardi through the window of the truck's cab. The large veins and femoral arteries in the driver's legs were running like
hoses. Muttering repeated oaths--"Oh, s---! Oh, s---!"--Trammel leaped from the cab. He figured he had about 135 seconds to save Zanardi's life. "You've got three minutes or less to stop the bleeding, and I figured we were already 45 seconds behind," he says.
>He met the ambulance at the chopper, which was stationed outside the medical center. Zanardi had lost nearly 75% of his blood. His hemoglobin count, a measure of the oxygen-bearing protein in red blood cells, had plunged from 16 to 4. He had used up all his clotting
factors. His skin was growing more pallid, his pulse weaker, his breathing more erratic as he began to struggle for air.
>In fact he nearly died on that helicopter. He began to go into cardiac arrest, and the German crew worked frantically to revive him. By the time he got to the emergency room of the Berlin trauma center, 56 minutes after the crash, his hemoglobin count was down to 3, his blood pressure was 60 over zero, and if nothing were done, he would be dead in 10 minutes. Doctors at once gave him blood transfusions, a half quart per minute. "It was not clear whether the bleeding could be stopped or whether the clotting of the blood could be restored," says Gert Schroter, one of the attending physicians.

>"You can survive nearly fucking anything with good chances if you get to a hospital within an hour"

Medfag here, I work in a major trauma center's operating theater, modern medicine is good but it can only do so much. Your survival is as heavily weighted in luck as it is in how much a hospital can save you.

>>30573446

12 hour's with a tourniquet and your limb is gone, 12 hours with open wounds and your risk of septicemia is massive. Hospitals can't fix end stage septicemia, you just die.

De gloved head, caved in skull, massive high speed penetration wound through shoulder. Outer layer of the brain was scraped along the asphalt. She had been propelled out her window when her car rolled on the highway because no seatbelt. She must've flown a long way. She lived, but they only kept her alive to harvest her organs, fungus grew on her brain a few weeks later because of contact with the road. Shit was mental.

>>
>>30577377

Pouring high strength alcohol on th wound might work, id only do it if the wound was covered in dirt though. You would want a sterile dressing, but soaking a non sterile dressing in an antiseptic solution Or strong alcohol would be my next bet. Prognosis is bad if bones are exposed especially broken bones as they are highly susceptible to infection.

A dude got badly mauled by a great white shark, on his right leg the whole quadriceps muscle group (pretty much all the meat on the front of his leg) was hanging by a few ligaments on his knee. Lots of nasty punctures and lacerations on his left leg, right calf muscle all fucked up. A tooth was found embedded in his femur. He lived and they saved the leg too though the massive nerve loss meant that it was a gimp leg with little movement.

That is straight up horrifying. I'm an organ donor but I don't want to be kept alive for a month after an accident of that magnitude. If there's zero potential for recovery let my family say goodbye, harvest organs, tissue, everything of medical value and cut the cord that night please. There's something unsettling about treating what was once a human as a living parts bin to be picked at as convenience dictates.

If you only had a shirt and vodka would it be correct to irrigate the wound with vodka immediately, soak the shirt in it, then apply pressure until medical help/supplies are available?

I just want to have a good procedure in place I can tuck away in the back of my brain just in case I need it.

>Prognosis is bad if bones are exposed especially broken bones as they are highly susceptible to infection.

I've read that a shattered bone can get marrow into your blood stream which will kill you dead in under 24 hours. Is this true?

Depends on where you are shot, some parts you won't even feel it because of the shock but other times like if you got shot in the chest you would having a real hard time breathing with choking on blood going into your lungs.
>>
>>30572019
initially, it feels like someone just dropkicked you, then it suddenly blossoms into a raging heat, as if you just stuck wherever you got shot toa hot iron. at about the same time it start to feel like someone is pounding you, whereever you got shot, in time to your own heart beat, (and i'm talking 350 pound dude, double fist slaming like the gorilla in the new tarzan movie)

and no matter where you get shot,y ou are gonna smell and taste copper, like you are sucking on old pennies.

>source, i was shot in iraq in '08, probly by some raghead with a mosin, round hit above my plate, and exited about smack dab in the middle of my scapula, a though and though that shattered my scapula into 5 pieces.
>>

>>
>>30581142
not fully no, i lost around 20% of my movement range with my left arm, at the shoulder, and that arm is noticeably weaker then my right, along with a permanent recurring pain just to let me know my shoulder hates me that will hang around for the rest of my life.

I really, really need to get off these prescription pills, I spent a good 5 minutes trying to figure out why the fuck you were showing us your belly button and why in God's name it was so high.

First thought actually was that you were showing us your dick got blown off, because in relation to your "bellybutton" there's nothing but a bunch of hair and a dark bit where your dick should be. Out of all the shit I've seen on 4chan over the years that's the first time I've broke out in a cold sweat over an image.

Still, sucks that you got shot bro. And good for you keeping the ball fro, I don't trim my shit either. Au natural is the way to be.

are you sure it was 7.62x39? I've seen videos of dudes being shot point blank with ceramic armour and they seem relatively fine.

then again perhaps the issued plate's aren't as good

>>
>>30581280
You are correct, the issued armor is absolute shit. At most you can take two to four 7.62x39 shots at a decent distance (say 50 meters) but that's it, once your plate is broken or someone decides to shoot you with a 7.62x54r or .308 you're finito my friend.

Fucking feel for you man. I tore my labrum and rotator cuff and had hairline fractures in my clavicle and scapula in a freak sports injury. To this day I can't sneeze, cough, or laugh without horrible pain and I'm trying to ease my way back in to lifting with little success. At least you have a good story for your injury. Were you worried about the internal bleeding or damage when it happened?
>>
>>30572019
primarily speaking people move a lot after they get shot. There are two kinds of wounds debilitating and lethal. debilitating wounds like a pelvic girdle shot will put down a 300 pound nigger on meth but he will not die. If you shoot someone in one of there heart valves while lying on an operating table they will die, but will have the ability to run and lay down fire for 3 minutes
>>
>>30580948
>I've read that a shattered bone can get marrow into your blood stream which will kill you dead in under 24 hours. Is this true?
Yes, it's called an embolism. And to add to what the median said, you might want to find something better than alcohol to pour into your open wounds, alcohol is toxic to tissue, you don't want to rot alive. Nor do I want to work on you while you're rotting alive.

Can't really talk to much about it, I have clearance and don't want to risk it on a Mongolian horseback riding image board. But I was shot ten times by a PKM in a spread about six inches lateral on my chest plate. Only one of the rounds penetrated and fragmented. Some of the jacket punched out my side and the rest of the fragments lodged close to my spine, and bellow/next to my right lung. I suffered a spinal injury, a collapsed lung, and that's it from the penetrated bullet. Broke my ribs in sixteen places, and when fell I broke out my two front teeth. Don't know what happened to PKM guy prolly wasted in the days after but he was about 100 meters away from what I was told maybe twice that. He shot me and ran away because to him it prolly looked like he threw a rock at a wasp nest.
