We also work with sp to track pot growers and shit.

The first gulf war was long gone by the time I came in. Clinton years followed.
Hopped all over the place when I was in England (Scotland, Italy, Bosnia, Germany, Hungary... lots of short trips).
I went to Iraq in 03, but my unit left when Baghdad fell, so I wasn't there for the 30 days needed for the campaign medal.
I joined the WA ANG, and my unit dodged every deployment they could. They always had some lame ass excuse (we don't have a full TDC suite, we are prepping for an ORI, etc). I talked to my UDM and made it clear that I'd go anywhere anytime, but that unit was just not the one for deploying.
But if you think that's bad, you should try my unit in the Wyoming Air Guard. No OCONUS deployments EVER.
Then I got to my current state and I went on a couple deployments before they shut down our platform, and it's been OCONUS free since.
i make Captain in a few months and i've got the AF Training ribbon, GWOT Service, NDSM, and a unit award.

We only get medals for deployments to combat zones, gallantry/bravery, and long service (15yrs). At a lot of parades, anyone CPL and below will have maybe 1 medal, most will have none.
