Why are gunowners so uppity to law enforcement?

Where does this uppity entitlement complex come from?

The force in the 1960s and before never had to deal with this bullshit attitude that all millennial gunowning civilians seem to have now.
>>
>>30534972

Why does law enforcement harass people who haven't done anything wrong or illegal? In the 60s a kid could walk down to the local park with his .22 rifle to shoot squirrels, and no one would bat an eyelash.
>>
>>30534990
No they couldn't just ask JFK.
>>
>>30534972
You break down national unity and your surprised people don't fall in line and obey American values?

This is what identify politics gets you, a fractured nation where were all individualist that care not for the community but constantly desperate to prove their independence.

>>30534990
Different social structure then. Americas current social structure is completely fucked.
>>
One could as easily ask you why you're so willing to capitulate to police officers without any regard for your personal rights.

Most gun owners are cool with cops. Every cop I know started off as just some guy who liked guns.
I live in the commnist state of Maryland and all my cop buddies became cops to have access to full retard guns.

Time after time, I see the leftists start violence against "those who plot the violence". Why am I not surprised when here someone is threatening to open fire on gun owners? And whet are they gonna open fire with, carrots?

Fucking hypocrites.
>>
>>30535029
Who is we?

Are we not all Americans? This is exactly the thinking that is wrong with our country. And your doing nothing but perpetuate it, but you clearly lack the self-awareness to see that.
>>
It's not just "millineal gun-owning civilians".

I suspect the ever growing list of federal and state laws that make more and more previously legal actions criminal, despite the dwindling crime rate, have many people unhappy.
>>
>>30535063
Most "mass shooters" are leftists. The occasional right wing shooter is an outlier.

Basically, it breaks down like this, left wingers use guns to kill innocent people while right wingers use guns for sport and self defense.

The "right wing gun but" stereotype by the left is projection.

At least theses idiots just carry there gun into public. I think its dumb as hell, just causing panic and reassuring the anti gunners views. A pistol in a holster on your hip fine. A mall ninja SKS slung of your back and posing in a restaurant with the gun shouldered. You just want attention.

Cops are more in favor of gun rights than the average citizen.
>>
>>30534972
Because LE has received substantial increases in discretionary powers and influence over the past 50+ years. Today, they are less like public servants and more like agents of the state, having become instruments of the will of their political benefactors. More laws are constantly being passed, increasing the likelihood and frequency of arrests of people that wouldn't have been considered criminals even five years ago.

Most gun owners are keenly aware of the intentions of certain political groups, and they know that LE will be the ones who carry out their will. Combine this with the sheer latitude that police have to harass you with little to no repercussions for their abuse of authority, and it's easy to understand why gun owners would be cautious, distrusting, and/or resentful of LE. The days of having cheerful morning conversations with your local deputies are over. From a legal standpoint, and judging from how uncertain the political landscape is, it is simply too risky to be chummy with the police if you aren't one of them.

Today, you could be fine. Tomorrow, you could wake up a felon because of the SAFE Act.
>>
>>30535723
Rural and suburban sheriffs departments are.

City cops aren't.
>>
>>30535750

>Because LE has received substantial increases in discretionary powers and influence over the past 50+ years.
No they haven't. More laws being passed does nothing for the average police officer.
They actually have less power, thanks to supreme court decisions like Miranda v. Arizona and Tennessee v. Garner.

50 years ago, cops could question you however and whenever they wanted, and shoot you if you were a fleeing felon and they didn't think they could catch you.

To say cops have more power today is laughably ignorant.
>>
>>30535767

You could say the exact same about the average citizen.

On balance, cops are more pro gun.

Most cops are anti-gun, and some are extremely anti-gun after a fellow 'blue on the farce' gets shot and/or killed.

They don't want people with guns, because it makes their job more difficult and more hazardous to their health. Never mind the kevlar they are all required to wear, thats just bullet "resistant" (yet another great disinfo joke)

A man was recently killed for announcing that he was legally carrying. Although he was black, and this might be the reason why officers were more on edge, I would think it should be good advice to all gun owners not to take any chances and just keep the gun concealed. Obviously your teacher wasn't qualified to teach it then. The sample wasn't random, so it's not necessarily representative. If I go to UC Irvine and sample every student there, I can't then extrapolate their results to all college students, all residents of LA, all Californians, or even all Americans.

Your study focused on cops who responded to the survey on a single website. You cannot prove that the sort who voluntarily visited that website, registered, and then took the survey are representative of all police nationwide. They might very well be, but you can't reasonably assume they are. Selection bias is quite likely to be in play.

Jokes aside, I have never gotten in trouble with local law enforcement, in fact I am friends with some of them... Hell I'm even friends with my sheriff.

However whenever I start to get closer towards a metropolitan area that's when I start getting weird looks from cops for having gun stickers on my car...

>An Arizona judge finally released body cam footage from the shooting death of Daniel Shaver, which led to murder charges against Mesa police officer Philip “Mitch” Brailsford.

>However, the videos are edited, removing the actual shooting of the unarmed man who died begging for his life.
>Videos are edited
>News is edited
>911 calls are edited and redacted
go figure....unfucking believable. And its because of the outrage that would ensue. The deed was done, it should be publicly displayed for its shame.

>The force in the 1960s and before never had to deal with this bullshit attitude that all millennial gunowning civilians seem to have now.

The fact is that we don't need nearly as many cops as we have. The only thing keeping you all employed are speeding tickets and federal subsidies for the failed war on drugs.

No one respects you any more because we recognize that very little of your time is actually spent serving the people and that you view us as a source of income.

Good job OP, you managed to troll /k/, the one board that's the among the hardest to troll.

Everyone in this thread was rused by a rusemaster that knows plain and damn well his statement is the conceptional opposite of the truth.

I can provide some insight into the photo on the right. That was in the unincorporated Sun Valley area next to Reno, NV. Its a really shitty area, and he's also walking down the main street of it.

What are they going to do? Arrest me over stickers? I rarely go near a metropolitan area and if I do I never have a firearm with me...

Yet whenever I am in my bumfuck nowhere small town I can open carry all I want and no one cares, not even the local state police garrison... Hell some of them waved to me as they drove past... And I'm not even white...

The point is, not all cops are the same, a lot of them are good people. Maybe if people would stop antagonizing them so much, took the time to be nice to them, talk to them like their human and get to know them on a personal level y'all wouldn't have shit time with cops...

And frankly, being one of those people who purposely start shit to get attention makes you look like the Republican, gun-toting equivalent of a Democratic, Liberal, millennial cuck...

Related question, has the NRA ever made any comments ever on shooting of a CCW holder that was in the right? Fuckers on fakebook are posting that since the NRA has made no comment yet, they're official stance is racism.

The NRA doesn't give a flying fuck about gun rights.

Loughner's shooter was registered as an (inactive) Independent voter at the time of the attack. There's no citations, and I'm pretty sure I've seen that crap on Facebook before so I'm sure there are at least one or two more that undermine the entire argument of the picture because someone was too lazy to fact check.

>>
>>30534990

Bullshit.

Parents grew up in rural Texas. Asked them if this was true? They said the Sheriff would have come down and kicked them in the ass and confiscated their guns for being so god damned foolish to be shooting off a gun in a public park.... not to mention the mother of all whip-ass beatings from Grandpa for being so stupid as to be shooting guns off in a park and secondly for being caught doing this by the Sheriff or deputies.
>>
>>30537249

Actually, Anon, there are plenty of crimes that go unsolved that police could set themselves to work at cracking. Human trafficking is actually a rather large problem in some parts of the country.

But cops would much rather just issue speeding tickets, bust people for smoking a joint, or pretend to be a prostitute to bust johns.

The police are only aiming at the low hanging fruit when we need them to be tackling real crimes and prioritizing real crimes.
