Why does he carry the axe?
>>30527169
Or perhaps he's wondering why someone would axe a man, before throwing him out of a plane?
I fucking hate you all so much
>>30527283
I love you too, buddy.
>>30527263
I was just about to axe the same question.
>>30527169
for opening doors and turning walls into doors and turning the roof into doors?
Serious answer?
He's likely a Pioneer.
>>30527169
The axe is for incase they are to need at chopping.
Traditionally the lowest ranking shitbird in the squad gets to carry all the heavy breaching gear.
>this is now a tactical axe thread
Dump 'hem
Viking commando?
How do you even carry an axe in combat?
>>30527433
You don't. You put it down or sit at the back and let everyone else do the fighting until you to chop down a door or something.
>>30527433
They give you 10points for looking cool
>>30527314
why would he use a double head? Shit design for actual use
>>30527263
Have we started the woodpile?
>>30527484
This, either go with one blade or make the other side a hammer head
>>30527498
Yesh... the pile rises!
Something in Muslim culture gives them a significant amount of fear and respect for bladed weapons. Akin to the way Japs and weebs idolize swords. If you roll into an Afghan village wielding a big axe they're gonna be just that much more polite and respectful.
It's also good for chopping things, whodathunkit?
>>30527484
>Shit design for actual use
a double bearded felling axe is shit design? fuck me there goes several thousand years of human experimentation, trial and error in one post.
Its not "tacticool" if anything but its just an axe for doing axe things
>>30527547
That's a whole load of shit you're talking there.
>>30527550
Single head > double head imo, the second head is nothing extra weight. If you want a heavier head, just get a larger single edge.
I came to this conclusion over about 14 months clearing trees and brush in areas where chainsaws were not always allowed for the Parks department.
Also, wood handles > all else
>>30527169
He wants to pretend he fights for a nation of vikings, when in reality he fights for a nation of cucks
>>30527597
in your opinion and your opinion doesn't determine doctrine or law. If it really bothers you that much then go tell the people in the picture how wrong they are. Not entirely sure what wood handles have to do with anything but ok i even agree
>>30527679
4U.
>>30527597
Having played around with about a dozen axes and hatchets over the years while camping I believe you. And a longer axe is way more then a heavier head. A hatch is like a pocket knife. If you don't already know what you are going to use it for then it is shit.
>>30527169
He carries the axe to celebrate his Viking ancestry, you shit lord.
He decapitates hajis in the name of Odin during breaching instead of shooting them. It scares the rest of the hajis into immediate surrender or suicide.
>>30527692
>Not entirely sure what wood handles have to do with anything
not much, just something i feel REALLY strongly about.
>>30527678
this infurates the /out/ in me. 8/1(clapping but not a slow clap)
>>30527263
If I took away that axe, would you die?
>>30527555
Isn't there some Iraqi fuddlored about pistols being more dangerous than rifles, based on the former regime's tendency to use pistols to execute people on the street?
>>30527597
The second head is for when the first one gets dull and you're a bananillion miles from the nearest sharpening majigger and/or don't have time for that shit.
>>30527169
>Why does he carry the axe?
Because he can. Why do you hate freedom?
>>30527762
old timer lumber monkeys would just carry a file or stone around to sharpen it whenever they needed. From memory of some oldster the second head could be sharpened for splitting and the other for felling trees a common trend for old timey homesteaders or whatnot
>Axe

Is one of his battle buddies going to throw him into a fray of sand niggers?
Well, I guess I hate tatical hatchets. I have one that is basically like pic related. Found it in the woods when I was 11 all rusted up with a cracked handle. At that time craftsman still had their no questions life time warrenty. I got a brand new hatchet. Been a great hatchet.
Even spydergoy makes them
>>30527841
tacticool shitty hatchet and then implied abuse of the blade by punching holes in metal. What do you do so I can make an anology?
>>30527597
Wood<<<<<fiberglass
Nigger you just went full retard. A wood handle is so much more shit tier when compared to a fiberglass one.
I read that it's tradition to bring it along for whatever they were doing
>>30527917
It's shit. Harder on your arms and your hands. I can handle a wooden handle all day no problem, but fucking fiberglass strips the skin off in under an hour.
I'd rather rehandle 3 axes than have to use a shit tier fiberglass.
>>30527903
Get over it. Most of the ones sold are just to show off because they look good, few are the people that are goin to trash a $500 tactical axe
>>30527869
used to have a shitty camp axe that i found under a crappy storm drain bridge thing out in the texas countryside. The handle was rotted to fuck but i brought it back home with me anyway. my dad found it in my room and put a new handle on it for me. Had it for the longest period of time until some cunt stole it from my tool box. No idea what brand it was as there were no markings. It may have been hand forged for all i knew but it was one of the most useful tools i had as a kid
actually just bought a new council tools camp axe and its pretty nice
>>30527867
Yes but he doesn't want you to tell the gay one with a bow
>>30527847
you're a big viking
>>30527936
Dude, wear some workgloves.
That said, I buy all wood-handled tools. When backpacking I just bring an axe head and pick and make handles from sticks to save space and weight. Can't do that with a plastic handle. If you have an axe for some reason yoou're going to have something to make a handle from.
If I used an axe professionally I'd immediately discard it for a power tool.
Smaller tools, like a carpenter's hammer I'd rather have a full tang or plastic handle though.
>>30527936
>Harder on you hands
In this situation, this will get you laughed off the squad as a fucking bitch. Especially when you're wearing gloves and only using the damn thing once in a while.
IRL how about you man up. Your argument amounts to "I like an admittedly inferior product because my soft hands can't handle the other one comfortably"
>>30528024
>Especially when you're wearing gloves
Gloves are for Eskimos. Anything that isn't grippy enough to interfere with your swing is too slick for a downswing.
Calluses are Mother Nature's work gloves.
God I miss the Civil War.
We had whole groups of Pioneers chopping down trees.
TFW they will never bring back the Pioneer badge.

Goddamn RMJ and their sexy functional beards. Its one if the only things that I DO NOT NEED that I may still spend money on. At least their shit is well designed and indestructible. Ill have to cut my way out of a vertibird crashed in Pike national forest before hollowing out a bear to justify it but fuck it
>>30527263
>>30528681
It's too darn sexy. Maybe I'm a huge fag but tools give me a huge hardon. Even fucking hammers or wrenches are fucking cool.
>>30528681
>full tang axe
>not being trash
I guess if you like the look I can't fault you but they're about as functional as a piston AR. most of the time it's fine but a solution that is poorly implemented by very design.
>>30527746
It shouldn't because it's not a hatchet and the don't market it as such. Go to RMJs website and read some of the end user stories. The kestrel isn't a for woodcraft, it's all the stupid, awesome, crazy or surprisingly useful shit grunts can think of.
They do have one or two models that wouldn't be half bad hatchets though.
>>30528759
>implying any of the stories are at all real
Nigga, Santa is actually your parents and wrestling isn't real.
>>30527484
You're a fucking useless mong.
>>30528726
Terrible analogy but whatever works for you. I've used estwing hammers and hatchets with no problem. People using tools wrong it a problem. Stuff like those RMJs are meant to do either of two things. Sit out in display or have the ever loving shit beat out of them in the field. When it comes to building a better pry bar metal is good, even at the cost of vibration because people don't fell trees and split logs all day. They breach shit, cut rigging and hack up conexs on slow days.
>>30528806
Did you look at them or did you just assume they all read like skyrim meets CoD? Were talking about guys that shoot chemlights out of shotguns, film themselves shooting 40mm at old cars and choreographing music videos on patrol
>>30527597
Confirmed for an idiot or bullshitter. A double head balances better and is more likely to hit squarely on a felling cut. This is before taking into account the fact that you now have two sharp heads instead of one.
(pic semi-unrelated. It's just a famous hatchet)
>>30528580
Using a wedge you fuck tard
>>30528885
I guess I should have specified exposed tang. Honestly the ones that they sell are kind of shitty at everything. A dedicated pry bar and a solid knife are better tools for whatever one may find themselves using the axes for.
>>30527597
>the second head is nothing extra weight.
extra weight and a safety hazard. It should become immediately obvious why a single bit axe is less of a liability to you, and the people around you when you look at this picture.
>inb4 "Just be more careful pussy"
>>30528968
>A double head balances better
No, not if you're handling correctly.
> is more likely to hit squarely on a felling cut.
That's in your grip. If you're not hitting squarely with your axe, that's on you, not the tool.
Shit's not hard.
I always thought double headed axes were only better to cut more wood without having to stop and sharpen your axe.
>>30529160
That's pretty much true. The problem with that is that you'd have to cut down a LOT of trees before that became an issue. Dozens of them at minimum, unless something odd happened.
>>30529093
Why would you link to something that's wrong?

Here's the video
https://youtu.be/Ta7fnUNGfrU
>>30527783
I thought it was one head was sharp for cutting trees, and the other edge was steeper for cutting roots so you don't damage your fine edge.
Axes are cool.

>>30528571
I'll call it in
>>30534109
I was thinking this too lmao
>>30528580
Not that anon but I've cut down trees with a sledge before. Well not really cut down more pulverized. Usually the bark holds together while the wood inside becomes pulp. Once you feel you've broken apart enough of the wood fiber you can just push the tree over. Great for preparing a bunch of tinder if you have a fire place/pit and hate the smell of newsprint.
>>30527169
Axe is tradition, they are marine infantry (amfskytte).
>>30534361
>amfskytte
wat.
Why do they carry it? All that brings up is gibberish
>>30527433
Very, very carefully
>>30527283
But we all love you buddy :3
>>30534407
Marine units in sweden used to belong coastal artillery (which is exactly what it sounds like), and those units had a doublesided axe as a symbol. The coastal artillery was then disbanded in order to form the Amphibious Corps (which shifts the focus more towards infantry) and as a tradition, they carry a doublesided axe with them.
>>30527169
>Wait, you don't?
>>30528452
For you.
>>30527320
Almost.
He's in the Swedish amphibious corps, so he's basically a marine.
They carry axes for ceremonial purposes, their logos typically include axes and viking helmets.
But the axes are also occasionally used for practical engineering stuff too.
>>30534524
Aww, they're so CUTE!

Officers and state officials had pistols vs some lowly grunt with a beat to shit AK
>>30527756
Absolutely true.
People in Iraq genuinely believe that.
That's why a black market PKM costs less than a Glock in Baghdad.
There was an Iraqi on the /r/guns board on reddit that did a summary and Q&A session about gun culture in Iraq and he explained a lot of things like that.
