Get a piece of rebar about 14"-16" long, then wrap four or five inches with duct tape. It's easy to conceal, literally hobo-tier weaponry, and freaky looking. Someone sees you with that, they know you're already dirt poor, and there's no gain in mugging you.

A couple masterpocks triple wrapped in heavy boot socks, swing like flail and don't hit their head unless you want them to die.

I have a paracord+steel bearing monkeys fist made by a friend. It's pretty cool but I don't think I'd trust it to take someone down immediately. It would be OK for after using pepper spray though (but you should run at that point)

I've been designing 3d printed knuckle dusters. Based off the NickNuk. So far it's crappy, it slides in the palm because it's too small. I'll keep trying a bit but it seems like a dead end compared to decent two finger dusters.
