That's technically an Israeli copy of a Finnish Kalashnikov variant

Yeah. Prefer it over the Finnish cause it'z in 5.56x45/.223 or can be made in 7.62x51/.308

I love mine, a former Vz 58 Pi, with full auto removed and another name lasered onto it (CZH 2003) to legally sell it as semi auto in switzerland
Pros
>easily accesible fire selector
>smaller than the A
>lighter than the AK
>last round bolt hold open
Cons
>the mags are bulkier because of the follower needed to engae the bolt-hold-open
>less after market than the AK
>handguard get's hot pretty fast
>Normal AK scopes require a brass deflector
indifferent
>striker fired
>czechnology

and you think there's no RKs in .223 and .308 ?
>>30509834
It's light and it's aftermarket is shit, therefore I don't get tempted to buy some fancy folding stock and end up cursing at it for three hours while hitting it with a hammer.

I can't speak too much for vz2008s, as I've only used one a little bit and don't actually own one. You'll quickly notice that the fit and finish aren't at all up to par with a real vz if you get to handle them side by side.
All in all, the vz58 is hands down the best rifle I've laid my hands on in the years I've owned it, if I had to give up my whole collection minus one gun, the vz would be the keeper.
---pros
>folder stock easily swings out after you push the button as you shoulder the rifle, extremely fast and easy transition
>100% reliable
>accurate
>fixed stock is the most comfortable military stock I've ever used
>much easier to clean than an ak(main areas), and only slightly tougher if you actually pull the bolt/dust cover area apart
>weight is good, weight on vz2008 is even better
>pretty compact rifle in both length and width
>BHO so you know when you are empty
>speedloaded very quickly with stripper clips, takes no time to refill a 30rd mag
>stripper clips easier to take with you for casual shooting IMO
>much better safety(at least on vz58 where you push trigger finger forward to take it off and your finger lands right in the trigger area)
>about a 10/10 fit and finish on vz58, vz2008 is gritty feeling and not finished as well, but works fine, can't speak for stripper clip guide being aligned properly though
>trigger pull very smooth on czech vz, ok on vz2008 but a lot harder pull
---cons
>fairly heavy trigger pull(even heavier on the vz2008)
>mag release is harder to get at than it could be
>I guess some people find the folder to be a bit uncomfortable(I think it feels great)
>commercial aftermarket parts cost a lot
>tougher to scope, but doable
>they should have used a two screw system to attach the stock to the gun(the stock can wobble over time if you don't loctite the screw a bit)
>>30509834
It isn't, the Vz58 is just average across the board.

why?

No idea, but my friend's 2008 weighs less than my legit one.
It has to be in the receiver or something. I have a scope rail on mine, but that doesn't account for it being a whole pound lighter.

100% this except I'd have to keep my SLR104 if I could only keep one gun.
I love my Czechpoint vz.58 more than any other 7.62x39 rifle I've ever owned, and in my option the vz.58 is a serious contender for the best rifle in the caliber.
Fingerfucked a Vz58 a couple weeks ago.
Didn't like the look or the gun that much all in all but it felt so good in my hands now I have to get one.
No one told me the czechs were wizards.

I'm a huge fan of 545x39, or any ak with ak-74 style features regardless of caliber.
I think a 30cal rifle with a bit more punch equals more fun for me, so that automatically rules out the 545 or 556 ak for me. I still need to get an slr-107 to round out the 762x39 collection, but I still don't see it pushing my vz58 out of #1 by a long shot.

>Didn't like the look or the gun that much all in all but it felt so good in my hands now I have to get one.
That's exactly what happened to me the day I impulse bought mine, which is something I never do for the most part.
I wasn't a fan of the looks, but every gun I held after it felt almost bad because the vz felt THAT good to me. As far as looks go, it's grew on me a lot within days.

Bought a czech vz58 for 750 after trading in a chinese sks. I'm with everyone else. It's the last rifle i would sell. Its also the only slav aesthetic semi auto x39 rifle I can buy in MD. Trying to source more magazines for it so I can build a kit. Only have 2 right now.
Does anyone know a gun store in WV, VA, PA, or DE that stocks them or is willing to transfer mags to a cuck state political prisoner?

>>30510259
Oh no there are, it's just that they're unobtanium compared to Galils in the US via CNC Warrior. Not to mention stagnag adapters and other goodies a Galil can be used with. Also:
>Wire cutter and bottle opener bipod
That's just a small details I like.
>>30510284
How do you combat overheating? I am not sure how badly a VZ.58 can heat up after a few mags, but I did fire a VZ2008 at a /k/ meet here in Florida and it heated up like a motherfucker around the handguards.
I liked mine so much, I bought 2 more.
Even shorter than an M1 Carbine
I have put real stocks on 2 of them
Great truck & car gun
>>30509834
I enjoy mine. One of the only affordable choices for fun rifles in the North.

By not magdumping or by wearing gloves when you want to magdump. I don't have an issue whatsoever with hot handguards because I very rarely magdump. The whole BUT DA BEE ZEE GIT HOTT! meme is literally a nonissue.
Here's my early D-Technik with beech hardwood stock set.
>>30517305
Mine was imported by CZ-USA but came to me with the wood-impregnated plastic furniture. I picked up a matching refinished folding stock from Czechpoint some years later and came across the hardwood set last year.
