The levernugget is nice, but you can also get a leveragarand - same gun in .30-06. The ammo's a little more expensive but I've seen them for under $1k.

I have a model 94. Its far more accurate than it has any right to be. Also is just a fun gun to shoot. 10/10 would reccomend.

Here's the better question: Do you want a scope? Marlin is better overall, with a beefier receiver, side eject, simpler action, and pre-tapped scope points.

The answer is right in your post OP.
The 88. It is lever action, detachable box mag fed, and comes in three flavors, one of which is readily available to shoot!
I love my 88 in .308, its a decent shooter and cycles nicely.

Plus you can add more rounds to a Marlin with a round chambered. It loads from the lever closed position.

My Henry fits 10 .357mag or 11 .38 special. Considering overall quality, I'll stick with my Henry.
That being said, I am absolutely jealous of the side gate. Probably the only thing I might want to change about my rifle, although side gate = more moving parts = more of a failure potential. Also with the side gate, you can't evac rounds without cycling the action, which probably isn't the safest method.
Not even going to lie, I'll probably end up buying a Marlin or a Winchester sometime in the future just so I can feel like a badass while reloading my sweet cowboy gun.
