I just raped my wallet buying ammo yesterday but with July 4th sales going on I'm considering just keeping the rape going and finally getting a .22 and maybe a scope for it.
I'm considering a Ruger American rimfire or a CZ 455, but I have no idea at all which entry-level scope I should be looking at.
Any recommendations? I'd be using it almost exclusively for making holes in paper at a range if that makes a difference.
I just got a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 EFR for a Ruger 10/22.
So far the adjustments are true and repeatable and the glass is very clear. I paid $189 and shipping for it.

eh, i'd say get a vortex for equal quality and a waaaay better warranty
>>30489421
That was one I was looking at because it seems to get good reviews, I'm just totally new to optics and in my Fuddness I'm stuck in thinking anything that cheap is going to be garbage.
If it's good though I might pick one up while they're on sale.
>>30489328
fucking love my american. hate my savage mark ii fv-sr. if you dont care about irons CZ is a good way to go, but i actually like ruger 22 irons as weird as that may seem.
>>30489511
Well I'd like to have the option to shoot with irons, and the compatibility with 10/22 mags is great (I don't own one but they're easy to find and I might get a 10/22 eventually anyway depending on what happens with .22 ammo availability), but I hear they're not super accurate. Is that just a Fudd meme and the difference isn't enough to notice or is the extra ~$150 for the CZ worth it?
Hey guys, feeling real patriotic this weekend. Hoping to pick up my first gun. Shot 22s extensively at camp and got the NRA sharpshooter medal if that means anything to ya. I'm thinking of just grabbing a ruger American this week at dicks... make sense?
>>30489536
who knows. i dont have a CZ and plink with subs out of a suppressed american without glass. it can hit clays and cans and bowling pins just fine at ~75 yards with irons. this is a toy, i dont care about MOA.

Bumping for this anon.
>>30490405
Thank ya m8
I have a ruger american rimfire .22 and its amazing.
I use the leupold 200$ 3-9X40mm ... works great
Or you could spend 200$ on a vortex and get more for your money becuase its imported. Wouldnt trade my leupold for one though ... fits really nice with the ruger.

How you get it dat cheap
>>30490650
he paid for shipping?
>>30490659
He said his was $200 where's
>>30490650 pic related costs hundreds more...
>>30489328
My latest is a Savage FV-SR with a Bushnell 4x32.
Not the best scope ever, but it's a nice small light rifle, threaded, and the little fixed power optic compliments it well.
Just over $300 all in.
>>30490670
>joke over your head
Cabelas has the XT22VR on sale for $150 and Marlin has a $25 mail in rebate going on as well... I already had an XT22 standard but ended up buying another for the heavy barrel because it was fucking dirt cheap...
>>30490650
Get teh VX-1 or 2.
My LGS had the VX1 on sale for 160$ and I impulse bought one.

>>30490775
This. I have used a VX1 for decades on my R700 and more recently Tikka T3. They're the best scopes for the money at that price point. Never had any issues with them.
>>30490733
>Savage FV-SR
I've heard that is more accurate than than the American but it dem 10/22 mags though.
>>30490748
Shit, too bad there aren't any cabelas in my state, and the nearest one would cost enough to drive to I just might as well get the American or a Savage.
CZ455, try to find a mode that comes with factory iron sights. As the factory sights you get on modes like the Trainer, are very nice.
CZ .22lr rifles are overbuilt as fuck too. So they very accurate and precise out of the box. Heirloom quality firearm that you can give your children or even grand kids.
>>30489328
Get the cz. It is the best non anschutz(sp?) rimfire available.
Scope wise. Get what ever really. I have a vortex crossfire2 on my 22lr. It is fine.
>>30491576
Is there a specific model of it that comes with irons or do you mean just look around for one someone sold after they put irons on it?
>>30490748
Has a lee powder measure
Recommend a marlin
Yep. Poorfag
>>30491591
Nevermind, I see you mean the Trainer model, which is it's own thing. Alright. I'm going to stop in Gander Mountain tomorrow and see if there's one i can just pick up instead of having to pay a transfer fee on. I've bought everything online so far and would like to just get one I can pick up and forego the annoying wait for it to ship.
>>30491594
Perfect powder measure works perfectly...
>>30489511
Apparently you can buy some peep sights for it, which look great. Not the cheapest things in the world but they do look nice.
>>30489328
Newfag here, do I need a license or a background check to buy a .22?
>>30492444
Unless you buy it off of some guy in a walmart parking lot, you'll need to at least pass a background check. State laws determine how much of a pain in the ass it is after that.
>>30489328
>.22lr
>>30492472
I just want something to plink that's a little cheaper than my AR senpai.
>>30492643
Yes but a Ruger American?
>>30493824
Did you have something else in mind? I'm going to see if I can go fingerfuck one tomorrow, but I'm willing to look around at what else they might have.
>>30491542
Agree completely. Ability to use 10/22 mags, especially if someone already has a 10/22 is AWESOME.
