How is Taurus still in business?

They're unanimously hated in every online gun forum I've ever visited, so who is buying them?
>>
Cheap bastards who don't know any better.
>>
>>30486809
they are still cheap as shit, how is that wierd?
>>
>>30486809
1) They're fucking cheap
2) The PT92 consistently manages to be quite alright somehow

I'd never but their wheelgats but their 92FS clones somehow don't suck copious amounts of D. The only thing that sucks about them is the factory magazines (which can be replaced with MecGar mags)

They should just specialize in their Beretta copies and become a low cost producer of decent steel framed pistols, kind of like the RIA of HueHueland
>>
>>30486809
you realize a good number of people who buy guns aren't internet nerds right
>>
>>30486809
>They're unanimously hated in every online gun forum I've ever visited, so who is buying them?

Don't use the internet as the end-all Be all.

1. Taurus makes a cheap product that works..moderately well?

There have been some egregious examples of them fucking up, but in general they make a firearm that does shoot bullets and won't blow up on you.

2. People are cheap

People are cheap. They like to save money. If you don't know much about guns but you want "A snub nose revolver" so you go to the gunstore. There are two guns that fit this, a S&W model 36, that cost a whopping 500 dollars, and the Taurus 85 that's literally half that, most people are going to ask about the taurus. The gunstore owner, who sells taurus is going to probably say something along the lines of the following

"It's no smith and wesson, but it will shoot straight and go bang when you pull the trigger!"

Which leads the person to buy the taurus.

3. A lot of their products actually do work

I've owned 2 taurus guns. One was a 850 that spun freely. Taurus fixed it, and I traded it.

The other? A Pt22. That shit runs like a sewing machine. I still own it and shoot it.
>>
>>30486809
>How do they stay in business when redditors force memes about them?
>>
>>30486809
My dad has a Taurus .38 as his usual cc.

It makes shoot of bullet.

Like other revolvers.

It's ok.
>>
>>30486809
I like Taurus. After playing The Last of Us, I want to get the fuck out of a model 66. I've fired Smith & Wesson's and Taurus side by side, and... Eh? Not that big a difference. I might get crucified for that statement, but S&Ws are hardly worth the price of admission for me.
>>
>>30486809
One of the exclusive producers of arms for Brazilian LEO's. Combined with the budget segment of America.
>>
I still want a Raging Judge someday for that .454 fun.
>>
>>30486809
People who don't read the forums
>>
>>30486809
People with little money who don't care about the opinions of gun snobs or who don't know any better.

They do make some shit guns, but they do make some nice guns. A simple internet search will distinguish between the two

Taurus has a bad reputation from 40 years ago when their quality actually was quite poor. They got better but memes only remember and exaggerate. If you talk with younger guys who've been shooting for a while that have bought Taurus you'll hear less bad things than talking with Bubba Fudd who remembers when the Beatles broke up.

Every manufacturer has duds occasionally. S&Ws can come fucked up from the factory too. Taurus does the same thing everyone else does- lifetime warranty.

They make good revolvers. They're the only profucts I trust from them seeing as its really hard to fuck up producing a wheelguns.

Somehow Jimenez and Charter manage to stay alive when they make absolute iredeemable trash

>Taurus has a bad reputation from 40 years ago when their quality actually was quite poor.

You're quoting gun rag articles. Gun magazines in the US are half full-page glossy ads for Taurus products, the other half articles that say "Taurus products used to suck, but they've got their shit together now."

>>30487940
>They make good revolvers.

Nah brah. Nah.

>They're the only profucts I trust from them seeing as its really hard to fuck up producing a wheelguns.

And yet they've managed to do it consistently since before you were born.
>>
>>30486809
Most gun owners/buyers don't actually go to gun forums
>>
>>30487068
>S&Ws are hardly worth the price of admission for me.
The M&P line of pistols are great guns overall. I honestly don't know why they even bother making revolvers anymore or why people buy them.
>tfw S&W will never make 586s, 66s, 29s, etc. without Hillary holes and decent bluing jobs and non-plywood grips from the factory again
I don't even like Ruger, but every time I'm tempted to buy one just to spite current S&W for their trespasses. Or scour GB/AL for a no dash.
>>
>>30490233
>I honestly don't know why they even bother making revolvers anymore or why people buy them.
.38 snubs have a market
.357 guns have a market

I wish they still made steel framed, hammer fired, DA/SA automatics, if only as a side thing.

>I don't even like Ruger
Nothing wrong with Ruger.
For what it's worth, removing the Hillary Hole is trivial.
>>
>>30486959
I'll second the PT92. Ended up getting mine in a trade with some other stuff. Was going to trade it off, but took it to the range first. It quickly became my favorite fullsize pistol.

Now my sister 709 Slim is a hunk of shit that can't make it through a single magazine.
>>
>>30486809
I read somewhere they were in the top 5 biggest firearm companies, if not top 3

I avoid Taurus but I'm not surprised
>>
>>30490233
J frame revolvers are not nearly as obsolete as the larger revolvers, for their incredible simplicity and dependability they're still very popular carry guns

I like Taurus' metal guns, and the millennium G2 isn't half bad if you're a poorfag looking for a gun. I think they take more hits than they deserve now a days.

1) Does not like steel-cased ammo. At all.
2)My wife limp-wrists it

>>30490233
The Ruger sp101 is a really good small but heavy .357. I like revolvers myself. Partly it's power (although 10mm is comparable to .357) and simplicity. Not having to use detachable magazines is a positive in some ways.
>>
>>30486809
BRfag here.

Everyone here that knows anything about guns hate it, we are forced to a lobby by army and politicians that ban imports and we have to overpay for shit Magtech CBC ammo (which is now owned by the same company as Taurus) and they have contracts with police forces from all states.

Basically that's how they keep going, ensuring a monopoly here and selling overpriced shit to police, meanwhile us shooters get fucked by having to either buy from them, Imbel, or have 2 years of paper work for imports.

by lobbying the fuck out of Brazil and having all police departments by themsleves, also selling bad products for the civilian and also lobbying for the likes of CZ and glock to NOT put their factories in Brazil..

seriously, several cops died because the weapon had fail to feed malfunctions..

here we either buy that (old model pt 938) or Imbel md1 1991 in 380acp.. and i don`t want to CCW (if i get the opportunity) with a single action pistol..

so revolver it is then..

I guess with Taurus it's hit or miss. I have a PT145 Pro .45acp that I keep in my truck's console. It has performed flawlessly. I called Taurus in Miami to ask about the recall and no questions asked they sent me a package with all new springs, guide rod, and magazine release. I'm just lucky I guess.

My brother in law has a taurus .44 mag revolver with a 2" ported barrel. He thinks it's one of like 5 made.

Now i didn`t know that they STILL ARE holding bersas at the airports.. wtf

We are cucked and .380 is the best auto caliber is allowed for civilians, with a sports license you can actually get .40, .45 and others, but still 9mm, 5.56 and others are still forbidden as fuck.

Welcome to Hell.
>>
>>30494737
In Brazil you either livre enough and have a .380 acp to defend yourself, or wait longer years to get a permit to be a collector to own 9mm .40.. if ever, we unfortunately have sh1t gun laws.

Even though the population voted agains gun control law, nah fuck it, they did implement it anyway

There's a whole lot of Bersas in Florianópolis airport being held by Army for more than a year.

They aren't letting them in because "a similar national product exists, the PT638, PT938, they are all compact .380s with DA/SA"

Oh yes, I remember you, looking to join PM or Civil?

I'd look more towards Civil, for both better conditions and not sticking with patrols and actually do warrants and operate more.

Who knows, you might be able to slip something from those crates on the warehouse, implying someone from inside the airport staff didn't do that already.

Do you frequent the .38 a lot? I know another /k/ommando from there, he doesn't go shooting often due to price, but he told me about the Tactical Club.

theyre revolvers and clones of other guns arent terrible. theyre not great either but theyre middle of the road, charter arms tier if youre on a budget. Basically if its not a taurus original its bound to be decent
>>
>>30487022
>"It's no smith and wesson, but it will shoot straight and go bang when you pull the trigger!"

To add to your point, it's pretty easy to sell a product that is likely going to be used very little. They make lots of glove box/sock drawer guns. Even though most of their lineup isn't popular with enthusiasts or pros the still sell a shitload of product. Thats where it's gets confusing because they sure as hell have the incentive to step their game up, which they have to a degree but it's still lacking.

Thanks man, we can try to own stuff, but we aren't free anyway, I don't enjoy the idea of paying and paperwork for a CR, paying 3k for a Imbel 1911, 8k for a .308 or 50k for an AR-15 (like Tony did).

We'd be better off living in Paraguay, to be honest.

As everyone else mentions: price. People want a gun but dont want to wait (save more). Friends have bought Taurus and end up selling them later, taking a loss, and buying something else. I try to reccomemd police trades if money is a problem for new shooters or cheap asses. Rather have a used G22 or Sig over a Taurus any day of the week
>>
Rossi has a decent line of budget rifles too.

Just yesterday some sperg was defending the shit out of his Taurus semi-auto to me, acting like an elitist cuntbag who belongs to some special secret Taurus club. Actually said he would trust his life with his Taurus.

Idiots. Idiots are why Taurus is still in business.

No, they don't. Stop with this meme. I had a Rossi (Taurus) .357 4-inch that worked itself out of timing within 50 rounds of shooting it. Started spraying brass flecks back in my face and it jammed because the shavings locked up the cylinder. I know, it's anecdotal experience, but if you Google you'll see hundreds of stories just like mine.

How do you fuck up a revolver that badly?!
