Thinking about purchasing my first firearm.
What do you think about this thing?
What was your first firearm?
Think I can do any better in California?
Am super broke - Not trying to spend more than $600

hijacking thread, what gun could i buy for 100? would prefer handgun or shotgun to a rifle.
>>
>>30484654
Fuck you, thread terrorist.
>>
>>30484631
don't know what you can find in california, but get a Ruger 10/22 instead if you can. I got hands on that Mossberg and it's the most disgusting thing I've ever touched. and that includes Jennings and Hi Points
>>
>>30484654
Used hi-point, used single-shot shotgun (baikal etc).

Stay away from cheap pocket .22 pistols
>>
>>30484661
Will it defend against multiple armed men?
>>
>>30484631
Don't buy one OP. My brother got that same model, and it's a worthless pile of shit. Will not feed more than 4 rounds reliably, even with CCI mini mags, awful rough finish, inside and out, and it's just a plinkster in an AR shell. Charging handle is non functional, so is bolt release. Stock rattles like a mofo.
It does do well with cheap red dots, and at least the rails aren't for looks only.
Get a 10/22

All I can find is the collector's edition for $300, works the same as the rest?
>>
>>30484728
>Ruger 10/22 Carbine .22LR Semi-Auto Rimfire Rifle
Only $250, is that my best bet?
>>
>>30484631
Remington 870
or mossberg 500
>>
>>30484758
For a starting .22 carbine? Yeah.
>>
>>30484758
Go for it famalams. Grab some BX25 mags too.
>>
>>30484631
ah yes my first rooty
>be me
>be 15
>out of nowhere I get the urge to hunt
>use birthday money and tell mom lets go to a funstore
>see a 30-30 lever action winchester $250
>only got 170$, but mom helps with the rest
>mom never gave a fuck about guns, nor did dad but were totally cool with me having one
>no money for ammo
>go home, finger fuck my gun, clean it every day for a month

It was my gateway into firearms.
Its like the MAN in me awoke and said "I must hunt" and so I did.

>>30484794
Excellent, thanks
>>
>>30484758
Please do not bother with those cheap plastic ar15 .22s

Get a plinkster, never a problem, 120-160, much more reliable than that overpriced shit.
>>
>>30484631
OP that mossberg 22 is a piece of shit. It's beyond terrible in every way imaginable.

Buy a Marlin 795 or a Ruger 10/22.

I have two 795s and one 70PSS, they're all awesome. Super reliable, scary accurate, great controls out of the box, Promag makes 25 rounders that work well. Out of the box, for the money, the Marlin 795 is better than semi 22s worth five times as much. The only reason I recommend the 10/22 is because it's good and has great aftermarket. For a poorfag you can't go wrong with the Marlin though.
>>
>>30484631
I bought one for my stepdad and he loves it. He doesnt exactly have a refined taste in firearms, however
>>
>>30484758
Marlin 60s are marginally more accurate for slightly cheaper. If you like to customize you should go with the 10/22 though
>>
>>30484654
If you want something good, all you'll find is a used .22 bolt action rifle. This can really improve your marksmanship, and will take plenty of small game, but probably isn't so good for defense.

If you're looking for a self defense weapon, you're better off saving a couple hundred for a decent handgun

10/22 with a Mannlicher stock for best results.

This, OP. Listen to this guy.

firearms are durable goods. The adage "buy once, cry once" applies. As in, if you're willing to spend just a tiny bit more, you'll have a rifle that will still work after your children will have died of old age.

In Commiefornia, I'd recommend going for a Ares SCR. They're just shy of a $1000, but it'll last you a lifetime.

Outside of Commiefornia, I'd say go with a AR kit from Palmetto State Armory.
>>
>>30484631
Just get a real AR-15 and a .22 bolt kit with magazine.
>>
I have two marlin 60's, one was my first gun and I had no problem out shooting a ruger 10/22 with a supposedly "match grade" barrel.

That being said most people don't like/don't have the patience for the front loading tube magazine and like to put a bunch of mods on their 10/22.

If you have skill or money you can mod any gun though. My .02

OP said he's in commiefornia
