Okay /k/ let's make a rare interesting thread.
It's 2020, Trump is elected, and the American forces are pulled out of camp Bondtsteel in Kosovo, while the KFOR troops have served there mandate and have been pulled out.

After a election in Serbia, the Serbian Radical Party has come to power, and have began to mobilize and ready for war.

After a NATO restructure, all countries that could not meet the minimum of 2% annual defense spending have been kicked out of the alliance, this including the Serbian neighbor of Albania.

Your goal, as the Supreme Commander of the Serbian military is to secure the break away region of Kosovo, defend it from a Albanian counter attack, and then do a land invasion of the Albanian mainland, racing towards there capital, while sustaining minimal casualties.

For this case we will use the standing arsenal of Serbia, and not count on any war assistance from there Eastren friends, such as Russia and China.

As the successor state of Yugoslavia, Serbia retains most of the once impressive Arsenal, maintaining one of the top Ground and Air forces in the region (Which, is saying how sad all of the regional forces are, aside from Greece and the Turks.)

Your current assets are 52,000 Active Front Line Personnel. Some of which boast high veterancy, especially higher up in the Chain of Command. The active reserve is 170,000 men.

And the land zone of protection on the Kosovo state administrative line is 478 long and 3-5km wide of mostly mountainous and forested terrain.

With a total population of 7,176,794 (Excluding Kosovo for obvious reasons) and 2,755,000 fit for service.

Your operational land assets are 225 MBT's. The overwhelming majority being of the M84 variety, with about one company of T-72 Urals thrown in. To be noted is that there is another 50 T-72 Urals withdrawn for service, along with a similar number of T-72's. There is a considerable amount of mothballed T-55's in storage, the current number is unkown to the public, due to the mass sales of these tanks to African shitholes for a poor price. But, is estimated at a several hundred. (With at least 500 being sold in 2012.)

The current amount of IFV's is 320 BVP M-80, with 200 being kept in reserve. The rest of the APC in use are made out of 200 BTR-50PK/PU, 32 MT-LB (Unkown amount in reserve), 58 BOV VP(Unkown amount in reserve) , and 120 BTR-60 , the number of these kept in reserve is unkown but most likely higher then the number in active service.Another notable asset of the ground forces is the BOV-1 which is fitted with 6xAT-3 missiles. Also known as the POLO.

A notable part of your land logistics is about 50ish Armoured recovery vehicles with a extra 25 bridge layers. 3500 Army Jeeps and light victors, 7000 Trucks and 400-550 engineer vehicles.

our self-propelled artillery consits of 72 2S1 Gvozdikas and 18 "Nora" B-52 with more being delivered every year. Towed Artilery is 86 M84 Nora, 36 M-46 Field guns, and 302 D-30 in active service, with a high amount in reserve. All guided by SNAR-10 Artilery radar.

About 84 MLRS in Service, with more coming into service every year most notably of the Morava and Orkan variety. (Smerch and upgraded Grad clones.)

Your Air defense is filled with 1 Battery par aribase of Bofors L/70 , with 54 9K31 Strela, and another 10 9K35 Strela-10. 48 M53/49 Praga. 3 Divisions of recently modernized Kubs and 2 divisions of S-125M Neva. The Radars in use are , GIRAFFE, S-605 and S-613, AN/TPS-70 P-12 P-18 P-40 PRV-16B. And a large amount of Strela-2, 9k38 Igla and 9K310 Igla-1 manpads.

The vast amount of issued Anti-tank rocket launchers are M-80 Zoljas, M-79 Osa, and M-90. ATGMS in use are 9K11 Malyutka and 9K111 Fagot.

Your bulk of small arms are made out of Zastava M-70, and a rising amount of M-21 which were planned to become the standard service rifle but are put into limited use due to a lack of 5.56x45 ammo. The Zastava M-21 did not satisfy the requirements of the Serbian Armed Forces, so a full replacement of the M-70 is out of the question by 2018.

The pride of your Airforce are the 4 (Questionably) Operational Mig-29B's with about 6 more being kept in reserve. The rest of your airforce is filled with 30 Mig-21's (20 Bis and 10 UM), 23 Soko G-4 Light atack aircraft, and 30 Soko J-22 atack aircraft. With 4 Anotnov An-26 and 2 Piper PA-34 Transport aircraft. The current amount of Mi-8's in service is 10, with another 10 Mi-17V5. The rest of your rotary is filled with 40 SA-341 Gazzelle's produced locally under license coming up to about 40.

Kosovo Security Force which are illegal by the Kumanovo treaty and the UN Resolution 1244 boast a entire 4500 Active Personnel with 2500 Reserves, and 1,300,000 Adults fit for millitary service. They are equipped with G-36 as the standard service rifle, and the highest armoured vehicle in service is a US donated Humvee. There AT and AA capability is mostly irrelevant, but some Albanian ATGM and MANPAD systems would most likely find there way to them.

The civilian resistance to occupation is expected to be fierce, and most of the ethnic Albanian population is to be displaced by the end of the war, to ensure further growth and stability of the region.

The Albanian armed forces consist of 9,500 active frontline personnel and 5000 active reserves. The Land forces equipment is currently barebones, the standard issue rifle is a domestic AKM clone, currently being phased out by Colt produced M4 Carbines. The highest amount of MBT's in Service was at 1990, with a whole 721 Chinese Type 59 and 138 T-34/85s. The current amount in service is 3 Type 59 tanks, with a unkowon amount in reserve, much of which is assumed to be non operational. They have not used any Light tanks since 2005, when the number of Type 62 in service was 35, which was also the highest amount of Light Tanks ever in service.

There AFV's consist of 15 BRDM-1's. All retired in 2000. The APC's are 37 M113's, and 103 Chinese Type 63's. The current amount in service is but 6 Type 63's. There towed Artilery is made out of Type 66, Type 59-1, and Type 60 Towed Artilery, who amounted to a total of 700 guns at there height in 1990, now being reduced to 18. There rocket artillery is currently non existent tho it once numbered 270 Chinese Grad Knockoffs. They are also equiped with 30 HJ-73 Anti-Tank Missiles.

The most important thing to note about these numbers is that most of them have been taken from there height in 1990, and the current amount of these in reserve is unkown but much lower then then. Due to a lack of maintnace, spare parts, money, and smelting as well as slow cannibalisation and some losses during the 1999 Kosovo conflicts, when they had frequent border skirmishes with the FR Yugoslav armed forces.
The things that the Republic of Albania has going for it however, is it's rugged mountinous terrain, well armed zelous muslim populace, and about 700,000 bunkers build during the reign of Enver Hoxha.

The T-55s and the majority of other reserves are shit, unmaintained since the '80s. BVP M-80 is a poor mans BMP-1, And there are no Orkan variants in combat use in Serbia, they did experiment with some form of 4 barrel version but there is a host of logistical problems. The production line was in Bosnia, as well as the ammo line, Orkan's were designed for 262mm rockets, not the most common rocket type. Overall if Kosovars were to have access to modern ATGMs, which they likely would as they have a close relationship with Turks, Serbian armor advantage would quickly melt away. Also Serbs don't really have experience in offensive warfare, certainly not the Serbian Army. Bosnian Serbs did, but they are all in Hague and they didn't show a huge level of tactical thought to begin with. Serb units that did get experience during Balkan wars have mostly been disbanded with leaders dead or in jail due to their criminal links and killing of PM. Also all the artillery is produced in Bosnia, the gun for B-52 Nora, M84, M-46 are produced in Bosnia. Most B-52 Nora's produced so far have used a converted M84. Artillery logistics are also tied to Bosnia, I think the blasting caps are produced in Bosnia. G-4 and especially J-22 proved to be shit in their CAS role.

Overall, excluding the manpower issues and economic and demographic disaster which would come from trying to take over Kosovo by force, Serbs don't enjoy as large of a military advantage as many would think. For Serbs it would be much better just to wait it out, Albanians in Kosovo are in demographic free fall, Serbs too but that's another topic.

And how exactly is one suppose to deal with a rather large US base in Kosovo, a base used for some pretty shady shit and therefor of value to US?

> And there are no Orkan variants in combat use in Serbia

This is false, i have seen at least 2 in video of a field exercise at Pasuljanske Livade last year. I believe there is some piss poor amount in service with the Mixed Artillery brigade.

>Also all the artillery is produced in Bosnia, the gun for B-52 Nora, M84, M-46 are produced in Bosnia. Most B-52 Nora's produced so far have used a converted M84.

All Nora B-52 parts are produced locally and they are actively being exported to Myanmar, Kenya, Bangladesh. Not to mention the Serbian order.

>And how exactly is one suppose to deal with a rather large US base in Kosovo, a base used for some pretty shady shit and therefor of value to US?

It's now evident you have not read the first part of the post.

>BVP M-80 is a poor mans BMP-1,
That's quite a stupid thing to say really, the BVP isn't even based on a BMP, it's a original design. All M-80's have been modernized to a 30mm Cannon (Impressive with how fucking cramped they are). And if you were to compare it with a BMP-1 by the accounts of many people the crew comfort is quite a bit better in a BVP, the armament system is much more efficient and usable then the BMP-1's low pressure 73mm Cannon, which has much worse ballistic characteristics then the Serbian counterpart. The BVP is also slightly higher, and has a much better turret depression. Now, if you were to compare it to a modernized BMP, it would fare much worse, due to it's lack of ATGM's (Which wouldn't be of much use in this scenario anyway), and would lack thermal systems of targeting and recon.

It's also debatable how eager the Turks would be to send Albania any sort of support. Due to them just reconciling with Russia, it would be a very bad move to destroy those relations again, and that would be a sure fire way to do it. One thing to note is that the Turks have never had a affinity for Albania, and while they most certainly would assist someone like Bosnia i doubt one could say the same in this scenario.

As for the Serbian forces lacking aggressive experience is also wrong, as the YNA has taken part during the Balkan conflicts from 1991-1993. Notable FR Yugoslavia aggressive operations would be Horseshoe, and Arrow during the Kosovo War.

Also, several more maps incoming.

Bumping with some J-22 and G-4 Pics. While the MIG-29's cowered in fear, in some barns and warehouses, the J-22 was flying active sorties while NATO had absolute air dominance. That planes the true hero of the Serbian Air Force.
